Oh my, you captured a pic of Diana with a mouse in her beak?! wow! Thanks for sharing all these pics. It seems to me that your hens look so happy and loved/well cared for. Beautiful pics and more beautiful hens. Thank you for the love and care you give to any chicken that comes your way <3Thank you everyone for your kind words and hugs. I hope you don’t mind if I share some pictures and video of the lovely Diana. I am sure I have posted most of these before but it is a time to remember her in happy times and with her friends.
Sorry for so many photos! If I remember right Diana is also my PFM picture.

Your gettin' 9 chicks in the spring?! Nice!Yes six chicks sounds great!
i was thinking the same! Woah, isnt she lovelyWe always focus on her character or her egg color. But we should stop and admire what a pretty lady she is.

Some of the higher ranking girls kept coming over and chasing her out of the spot she wanted to lay in (barely accessible back corner of course!) so my two Azures Snicker and Doodle guarded her so she could get the job done. They stood there for a good 10 min stock still apparently silently announcing thou shall NOT pass! I got a picture its dark but still sweet enough to post.

Yes she is counting on that extra length through the people door the way she flew here. Flying to a roost would be 1) harder as the need good flying accuracy 2) a hard surface to land on, so more possibility of injury? Wrap it in a gym mat!Emergency brake deployed
This is what it looks like when Babs flies down from the rafters and finds Bernadette parked on the runway.
One of the many reasons I don’t like having the Math Majors roosting in the rafters is that they rely on the people door being open to give them a landing runway, and I like to close the people door when it gets really cold.
They can do a much shorter flight down to the roost which looks like a safer option to me, but they seem to prefer the drama of the long runway flight.
Sorry about the dark grainy video - it is from the coop cam. I think all the dust at the beginning must be from Eli’s landing that the camera missed.
1 - by the name proofSo based upon this I want to know how many chickens everyone has.
Until you apply the name principle. Then it drops to zeroBy those standards, you have zero chickens... that count to flock total....and I have 8....I think....
