I am so sorry, I cannot begin to imagine the heartbreak of loosing one you have had so long. I've lost dogs and cats and chickens which can leave a person gutted. I know as long as we have our horses one day as well I will have to face that pain. You did the right thing by her by letting her go before she hurt someone or herself even more.
Thanks Rebecca - you are correct - if you have pets they will one day leave us. I vowed never to get another cat after my old Ginger died. But then that pipeline kitty came along...

Not that I would take on another horse if one stumbled into my path ! I am too old to take on any more horses hahaha! Unless I win that lottery :)

Sally was an awesome beast and I will miss her, she had the most lovely canter.

But now I have other pets to also care for - and I am glad for their distraction.

More baby pics of Curly, Fluffy and Henny Penny - they were so tiny!

Thank you for your kind words. I am not in a full leg cast, not really a cast at all. Just a hard plastic splint that goes along the bottom of my foot and the part-way up my calf, then wrapped to my foot/leg with an ace bandage.

I finally got in to Ortho today. They have scheduled surgery for next Wednesday at 6 am to screw everything together the way it should be. Then it will be no driving and no weight bearing for 6 weeks.

I am so very sorry for your loss, especially when you are so far away and couldn’t say a proper goodbye. She obviously had a very good life with you. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs 💜💜💜💜💜💜

I am going to miss my girls so much by the time I can go see them.
Oh my gosh! that is why you're in such misery! A splint hardly provides any support at all - I am SOOOOOOOOO glad you have a date to get it all bolted up (pipeline term :) )

Thank you for your very kind words - Sally was born here on 5th April at 7PM - then half an hour later one of my Arabian mare had her foal - a black colt named Mikey. My very young niece (3 yrs old) named them - Mikey and Sally. So I called the Arab colt Mahkah, and Sally became - yup you got it Mustang Sally :love

I wish my external drive I brought out with me had my photos on it - but it doesn't darn it!

Grateful Tax

EDIT: Sorry that is Truly - Lulu has pink skin, Truly has black skin (check their muzzles)

I'm here to inform you all that Butter plotted her revenge and executed it perfectly. She somehow managed to postpone her molt and held onto her remaining feathers. Then in the first week of January during a cold snap went naked overnight resulting in 4 nights of house chicken privilege's. Tonight during her show of throwing chickens off the roost. She did it in front of both me and mom. I got angry and went to stop her. Mom stopped me. NO ONE messes with her hen, and if she wants to throw them off the roost, she will help her if need be.
You go Girl - you are The Queen and thus must have the best location!

It is just as bad when you have two red heads. Out of their stalls it is obvious by body build who is who. If they are in a box stall with both sticking their head out mistakes are made. Russ has a wider blaze. But if you are in a hurry or it is a dimly lit barn they look identical. Then again, dimly lit barn is no excuse. Dad sometimes switches the boys up when he cleans stalls and does not say something. I have been known to be thinking I'm talking to one of them and then take a closer look and realize they had been swapped. You know, mom always said she did not want a bay horse. Her reasoning was all bay horses look alike, if you have saw one you have saw them all. What does she do....collect 2 red horses with flaxen manes and blazes. They do not even have stockings on their feet to tell them apart. Thank goodness Dirt is a different color.

The 8 boys who hatched in October should leave in about a hour. Hopefully things settle back down again. Twig and Bubba have started to take a dislike to them and have been trying to run them out of the yard. This has them wandering farther then I want them too. They were also taking their sisters with them. With them gone that will leave the 5 girls who should start staying back in the yard. I'm giving myself roughly a month to make a final decision on if I will keep the cochin mix or not. I will either sell 4 close to laying pullets or 2 egg eating cochins and 3 close to laying pullets.
