While you’re driving, your truck can easily handle a little brooder plate in the cab. With the crazy temperatures I wouldn’t expect a plate to keep the temp up enough in the truck overnight… but if my ‘92 Chevy can keep up with a 150watt inverter, your Blue can no problems! So logistically speaking there’s not a good reason not to.
Is an inverter the gizmo that converts the truck’s DC to AC so the plate works?
Then at night she can bring the chicks into where she stays and plug into the mains.
I am loving this whole idea!

Those hand warmers you shake to activate are warm enough. They last about 10 hours so you would have to replace them along the way. But they don’t cost a lot!
Put them inside socks so the chickies don’t peck them. Better still put them under the box they are in.
Make sure the box has good ventilation low down because the sachets use oxygen to create heat.
Another enabler hahaha :)

Thanks for the idea - I saw something like this at one of the hatcheries (Breezy Bird Farm south of Winnipeg) to keep chicks warm for transport.

An inverter would plug into the cigarette lighter port. Then you can plug low draw power items into the inverter :)

Such and enabler!

🥸 You are feeling very sleepy, now listen to that voice in your head... You need more chick's, you need more chick's...you also need goats, lots and lots of goats 🐐 🐐 🐐 and chick's 🐣🐥:jumpy🐤

On the count of 3 you will suddenly wake up refreshed .

Now tell me what do you need ? Would it be goat's and chick's by any chance 🤔
Nope- I need caffeine due to lack of sleep planning shipping chicks home!

So going by that Curly needs to go broody about the middle of March to be ready for her new babies. I would say Marty, but, something just tells me that hen is going to pull the ultimate surprise before you get home.
Nope there wont be any surprises - my Mum is brutal with removing eggs and locking everyone away at night hahaha

But if Marty goes broody then she too will get babies!

I awoke again - dreaming of shipping chicks - sheesh!

Well long time to go before I head home in April - and if they don't have the varieties I want (need auto-sexing ones so I am sure of getting pullets), then I will be disappointed!

Two for Tuesday

(like the one I suck in there haha!)
