@ValarieF hasn't been online as usual due to health issues🙁. But did mention that she could be getting three new chickens re-homed from a family moving. Chicken math strikes again.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
Thank you @ManueB!
@bgmathteach - I know your new LMS has you swamped and very behind - this might help you catch up.

I don't know if @rural mouse already responded to this - I'm almost 100 pages behind, and surely won't be able to fully catch up this weekend - so I'm risking it.

I suspect that Penelope is a mix of a silkie and an Ameraucauna (in reality, probably an EE as true Ameraucaunas are somewhat expensive and don't come from the big hatcheries - rather from smaller hatcheries and from breeders. (I have bought a few supposed Ameraucaunas' from a hatchery, but in reality they were EEs some laid blue eggs, but some laid a soft green egg. They spelled it 'Americauna')

I suspect this mix because she has the silkie tuft (head) and the toes, and often (from what I have read on here from the likes of @RebeccaBoyd - not through any personal investigations nor scientific research on genetics or anything!) She would be the 'satin feathered' - i.e. more regular feathering like Twig.

Now I'm a bit curious, and will have to do some research on this - when my class is over and things die down a bit for me!
Now I need photo's of Penelope myself to scrutinize. Why did this not cross my mind. So far every first gen silkie cross of mine has been hard or satin feathered, beards and muffs to a extent and double toed. Twig has a head tuft, Goose my pullet does not but then really neither does Goose's momma Chiquita. The 2nd gen silkie crosses are a bit more varied but signs are still there of silkie genetics. Twig has passed on the double toe to a couple chicks. He has also passed on black skin to some and the beards on a few. The biggest thing he is passing on and it is very noticeable since the majority of my flock have single combs is his walnut comb. Not one chick of his has a single comb. Both Twig and Goose are bigger than their silkie parent. The 2nd gen silkie cross chicks are already showing signs of being even bigger.

I told him I'm a service tech so I get it but 600 for ten minutes work. .. they'll not get called back out here again unless I'm in dire straits. My usual guy is actually taking off the holiday or I'd never called these guys. If JB had been available it'd had been a $100 service call and he'd been done in 10 to 15 minutes.
$100 is more like it. That would be fair enough

Kidding :gig

Now I need photo's of Penelope myself to scrutinize. Why did this not cross my mind. So far every first gen silkie cross of mine has been hard or satin feathered, beards and muffs to an extent and double toed.
And Twiggy! :old

Im sorry Ive been here just not typing much. I came up with some better names for the silkies and frizzle. The frizzle is storm, the blue silkie is Cyclone. The partridge is Tsunami and clyde is now Tornado.
I gathered a huge bucket of eggs I must have a hundred or so to get rid of. Time to hit up with the family and friends and neighbors.
Tornadoe is all better fry wry neck and cocoricos all the time every day. Its a little squeeky cocorico though its so cute.
