Yes. They don’t need much grit and debatable at day old anyway if just crumbles (they will need grit if they can eat grass from a lump of sod).
So once they have all eaten some grit I would take it away for a few hours at least.
I like the new tote idea.
I have no experience of coccidia so others should weigh in - but medicated feed isn’t a guarantee - might they need actually treating with Corid?
Could a vet look at their poop for you?

So I actually decided to move to my feed room. It much bigger and I got her water and feeder out of the crate. The feed room has a locking screen door and the flock can still see her. However she is rather far from them. She seemsuch happier, but when I was moving her in there I forgot to close the door and she escaped! She left for about an hour and then while I was cleaning the coop she started doing this clucking sound that I hear when hen talk to their eggs. She also slowly walked towards the feed room after I opened the door. Then when one of the younger rooster came in to see what she was doing she fuffed up like a basketball and growled at him and then when he walk closer to her she attacked him then she went back and sat on her eggs! She is now happily brooding her eggs and I've closed the door to the feed room so she is all by herself.

That sounds perfect! Good job.

Horse show tonight. Was hoping to have Rosie's new shirt she ordered but something came up and they will not be there. Will deliver it to me one day this week. Yes I should be school shopping but have a great start on it. As Rosie said anyway, what is to stop her from wearing this to school as well. Now she wants a hoodie made too.

had a terrible fright with Piglet, RC had noted a fox hanging around, and was quite shocked to see wee Piglet laying out in the Chicken Yard; as she ran over to check on her, Piglet sat up and looked at her (likely annoyed her snooze was interrupted), and proceeded to have a snack.

Noted that Butters had something protruding from her vent, upon inspection CB was able to pull an approx 8" long fibrous 'poop'; afterwards Butters seemed to be feeling a wee bit better.

Such tragedy has been in the cards with Rebecca: the loss of her darling silkie chick, Butter the Matriarch taken by a predator, and now a truly horrific tragedy with a dog at large attacking and killing her cherished Silkie hen Chiquita, one of her black hens, and a frantic search for Momma Hen. The dog was shot and rightly so, dogs attacking livestock are dealt with immediately.

Oh I am so sorry the second one passed away, oh theses wee fragile chicks, they sure do try us at times.

I haven’t used chick grit, but then my kiddos are outside in the dirt and picking through whatever they find in the barn (oooo yummy horse poo!) as soon as I can get them out and about.

I like the idea of changing their housing to rule out any other pathogens/mold.

Yes, eliminating the possibilities is the only option. The grit could be a factor but I'm not convinced, got to read up - I thought unless you're introducing foods other than chick starter you didn't need grit, and to not confuse them about what's food and what's not I was holding it back. But if there's a problem with their gizzard it could help.

Aspergillosis has a possible symptom of slow moving or impacted crop. I feel terrible about it, you'd think if it was hatchery related they'd all have the same problem, so it's luck of the draw in failing to thrive chicks with the same crop symptom (I think unlikely) or hatchery mold, or my set up here. So the best I can do about it now is change everything out. If it's mold here, I'm suspecting the wood chips under the paper towels more than the box as the possible worst culprit, since it's right underfoot, closest to them, and gets slightly disturbed as they run around on it and I change out towels. But it's all going.

@RoyalChick - Yes good poops now. Just FYI the feed is medicated and the feed bag says don't also have Corid in the water if you're feeding medicated feed. Too much lack of vitamin B's then? But if the chicks were actually sick with Coccidiosis I don't know, maybe you treat for actual illness and feed non-medicated feed for a period of time?

If it were coccidiosis they would all be poorly I am sure - they are so small and fragile at this age.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it, you still have 3 adorable wee chickies to enjoy, just keep an eye on them and enjoy them. Every day they get older is bettering the odds.

Butters update - still hanging in, weighing now 2 lbs 12 oz, versus 15 oz last week, so maybe she's holding on. She is acting much more hungry and and wanting to eat more, and telling Popcorn to keep away from whatever she's eating, but still not ending up eating very much. I am still tube feeding her 30ml once a day now, with added coconut oil.

I set up a little feed bowl for her after I saw her standing in the treadle and looking unsure about eating, or leaning in to eat. She likes the bowl. Since then I've observed her using the treadle okay. She is very picky about eating. Might try a mash with her today, from your and @BY Bob 's recommendation earlier today.

I found more fibrous pieces, but dried this time, in the poop tray and roost bars the other day (Edit - Aug 3), took pics and I hope she's done with that, if that's what was or is the problem. Her spirit was very much improved that day, so it helped at least to pass them. The one I didn't get a picture of, picture a woman's pinky about two inches long, then it quickly narrowed to six inches of stringy fiber.

Three groups of poop on the poop tray, though there was stringy fiber in two places as if she moved, and I put that together for the picture. Two angles.
