I'm now feeding everybody the starter grower crumbles, Nutrena Naturewise 18%. Butters wants to eat it, Hazel too, and Popcorn thinks it's candy. Butters was growling at Popcorn, who is happy to use her heft on Butters until Butters brings out the pecks.

So the Nutrena pellets were coming up to three months old, I'd given most of it away last month to a friend who can use it up fast. Now the starter grower crumbles are in the treadle feeder and Hazel's little bowl.

Popcorn is the only one laying this week, Hazel is molting and seems to have stopped. Popcorn is eating the oyster shell and eggshell bits and so far no soft eggshells.

The crumbles size. I decanted the bag into a clean pretzel jar.

Nutrena is good! I use Nutrena layer crumbles. I used to use the layer pellets, but I realised that Bolt couldn't eat it, so that's why she wasnt laying eggs. I switched to crumbles and she started laying immediately.

It’s Pony Sunday.

I so rarely have any thing to contribute that isn’t a cat or a chicken but today I have a few things to wish everyone a happy Sunday.

I had a daytime visitor (thank goodness someone eats the dandelion leaves!).

And several nighttime visitors (what is with that jumping movement coming towards the camera?).

And finally something to make everyone smile. Warning just let the site scroll through the pictures for you - I couldn’t figure out how to see them at my own pace.

Happy Sunday everyone.
Those were all awesome 😁, bunny, coon, and assorted hilarious photos!

Thanks for sharing 😊

Pony Sunday

How wonderful! He looks like my Bob!!

Great! Now, I have to come up with a cool name for him (mine), too!:lau

Maybe I should have a naming contest for him???? Gotta name him quick - Elroy keep sniffing him and trying to sneak grab him when I'm not looking....he thinks anything plush is for him!:lau:lau:lau:lau If he is named, he is definitely mine!

I just give Elroy the hairy eyeball and he backs off - but every time - his nose is there an his mouth is 'fondling' it just waiting for me to say 'okay'.

I think this is the best kind of Leghorn for me to have - no laying issues - will snuggle (not peck like @RebeccaBoyd ), nor fly into the rafters like Eli! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 It was a very sweet thing for a thoughtful lady to do!

Here are my snake-detering renovations. I took a flashlight and looked all around, but didn't find anything. There are plenty of spaces one could go in or out of the shed. Closed the egg door and checked the coop itself and it would have to be pretty small to get in. 🤞

Perfect! You did a good job there with checking everything over and it all looks great!

Not sure how many days to get them to start going up there on their own, but I would say only a few days. Once Momma gets the picture the babies will follow her.

I think you will make out ok with this, having any livestock is always a challenge. But have to say looks great!

But you miss the attitude and smug looks they give you. After they peck you that is. How dare I touch them even if it for their own good.
