We have family in BC. The fires are very scary. Jeff’s mom was evacuated out of her assisted living home.

That is scary for sure.

Hello everyone.

I am thankful to say everyone is on the mend or recovered and thankfully I seem to have avoided coming down with the plague so far. A few days ago we celebrated Bunny's 3rd hatchday. In that celebration I carelessly made a statement that this year she was behaving and had not gone broody once. It was pointed out to me that I was stupidly tempting fate. I AM A IDIOT. Karma is a witch let me tell you. I was already dealing with breaking up a stubborn Holly. The very next day when it is time to pack a determined Holly to the coop from her nest I find not one, but 3 hens shrieking at me. Holly, Bunny AND Raven of all hens are fighting over the same nest with the same idea. What the crap is Raven thinking? She just let go of her chicks not even 3 weeks ago. She JUST secured her top spot as queen of the flock. Now she wants to hatch chicks AGAIN? When I end up having a nervous breakdown let it be known, I found another broody hen.

sorry for the laughter (not really, that part IS funny). Glad everyone is recovering well. Have you ever tried putting ice packs in the nest, or ice cubes? (I can just see a broody eagerly reaching to tuck the "eggs" under herself only to recoil in disgust.)

Morning all - just popped in to see what's going on - Oooooo a great song! I must play it - but darn it I left my jumpdrive with my music on it, home in my truck. I miss Ol Blue with all his bells and whistles and comfy seats, electrical plugs, huge backseat. And not smelly with some air freshener hung on the rear view mirror (that sucker went in the trash pronto!).

OK well far as I can tell everyone looks ok back home, Mum seems to be managing, not sure the status of my broodies, but mum is hauling the brats off their nests daily. It looks like Mr P is molting - all he has left is his two long tail feathers - looks hilarious on the barn cam.

Well I am going to get cracking here, I don't have any internet access in this Air BnB - which is infuriating, I am hotspotting off my work phone as I maxed out my phones data - and of course long weekend so that will need sorting on Tuesday.

So far though all is good, the weather is hot and smoky here, 32C yesterday - thank goodness for AC in the truck I have here. I almost got smacked with the 'Buggy Whip' (those long flags on a pole on construction trucks), I fold it down when I am not on a work site, and so there I was trying to put the sucker up and the sucker whipped up faster than I thought

Also have to say I am not a fan of Porta-Potty washrooms
I keep the disenfectant wipes close by!

Hi friends. I miss you all. Just checking in. You may know I work for the public school system. School just started and work has been very busy. Also, we just moved our youngest into her college dorm last weekend. I need to get my irises in this weekend and a dear friend recently lost her husband, also a dear friend, to glioblastoma. This weekend we are helping her prep for his celebration of life.

The chickens are doing well. You may recall I’m down to seven… in order by age and rank… Bridge, Buttercup, Roxy, Little Mill, Minnie Minnie, Flo and Flash. Bridge, Roxy, Flo and Flash are actively molting. Not sure about Buttercup. Little Mill and Minnie Minnie are not, but I sure hope they don’t molt while we’re in Europe, as they both take their molts HARD (they have both had neurological symptoms during molt).

I haven’t taken photos of any of them in ages. Maybe I will this weekend.

I hope everyone is well. I’m so sorry I have not been able to keep up, not even with a weekly synopsis.

Hi all, hope all is good, all good out here in BC - smoky and hot , it was 32C today.

I am crazy busy and exhausted so just popped in to say hi, mum says all my chooks are behaving, and horses too.

Ok I will try to catch up tomorrow, but I don’t have internet here (do not get me started ) so I am hogging the work cellphone data - bad Kelly!

Our company use to provide hotspots for the service techs but one day the canceled them with no notice. Since then I use the phone for a hotspot and burn through data. I don't stream videos so they don't say much.
