It's been raining too here and much colder today. I put them back into their runa coop early, so they can keep warm

Not sure why you have ice in you water down there we haven’t had it that cold - yet! Tonight though it supposed to be below freezing. I’ll cover the horses water trough to help keep the water from freezing. It’s way to early to put the tank de-icer in there.

I've never heard of tank de-icer. Is it some sort of safe chemical?

This is Sophia’s colouring. And she is the only one I have with wattles not sure if that means anything as Mr P has wattles - can those be passed along when combined along a hen with no wattles and no comb?

And the wimps who do not want to go outside, don’t blame the silkies they get knocked over in the high wind

They love to tear up the horse manure and find bits of grain in the poop

It is an electric device for preventing water from freezing in livestock water troughs.
You can get little ones that are safe in plastic buckets too.
I considered getting one for my Princesses but decided to use a heated base instead.
Oh, good reminder, time to switch over from bug zapper to heated waterer base. Well, maybe no rush. I’ve got a few weeks yet although it is getting down to freezing at night next week.

Tax: Bernie with a face full of mash. She does not seem to be molting but she hasn’t laid an egg in ten days. She doesn’t seem ill and certainly has a healthy appetite!

Back east and north east, some people use strip heaters for their cars. Keeps the engine warm enough to not freeze and dislodge the freeze plugs and pop the radiator

Pony Sunday

Quite chilly and windy today, north wind brrrr, the chooks took one look outside and ran back inside hahaha wimps!

I walked out to check on the horses, really need to get those weeds cut down - sent a text to my niece asking if she could drop by with the JD tractor and bush-hog someday.

My Willow trees are just starting to turn colour.
