Oh no...I only got the new girls to make up for the eggs Thane wouldn't lay!
I agree with RM - Thane is a Thania, but jut to be safe can you take a close up side view and front view. And who says Hubby needs to know?? 😁 he will just think it will be a quiet Roo 😊

And if you really want a Roo you can get another one!

Well, your girls are not going to lay every single day. Safe to bet each girl will lay 4 to 5 eggs a week if they are not production breeds. That is actually a good number health wise for the hen long term. Not sure again on the breeds, but it is also a safe bet at some point in their life your girls are going to attempt to go broody, rooster around or not. If you choose to break them, if they are easy, a week of not laying. If they are difficult and take a while to break, you are looking at a couple weeks of no eggs from her. If you choose to let her sit or try to foster chicks on her, about 2 months of no eggs. Point being, in theory, adding 2 more girls will make up for eggs that Thane does not lay even if he is in fact a she.
And that folks is how chicken math happens with regards to eggs 😁

My school chicks now know how to fly up 6’ to the top of the rooster run fence, then fly up into the pine trees - chasing after a Chickadee!

And Butterscotch figured my truck was a great lace to hop up and visit me - I was leaning against the truck chatting on the phone with kris. All I could hear was little chicken nails scratching along the hood of my truck!

These kiddos never do these bad things when I am paying attention to them, but when I am trying to jibber-jabber with someone like any kids they have to act up!

😁

I am so glad someone is in touch with Kris. I assume you mean ‘our Kris’. Does she have a roof yet?

So we have named the new girls Samara (white one) and Morinth (black one)

Samara being a door keeper. The three very concerned original chickens "you're in the way! It's bedtime! Food lady has to close our door!"

Samara not moving. When I did move her, she pecked my head and hand while I was bent over cleaning that groove for the door to slide.
Bonus Morinth

And my new feeder and waterer set came with an amazing sticker.

Awww they are just lovely. This is how it starts you know, with a few little ‘pets’ and then a few more show up. Before you know it you have 13!

Then enablers assist with some encouragement to hatch some eggs 😊 and 13 jumps to 30!

Reenie sharing her supper with the gang.
