I have seen both responses. I once posted a video of them all frozen by an alarm that Aurora gave. It was amazing to watch them wait for her to give the all clear. She also kept doing this low growl to tell everyone it was not clear. Mine had to learn this the hard way just as this woman's poor chickens.
I remember studying that video!
I have both responses here too. Hazel and Popcorn are doing a great job training the Spuds.
@RoyalChick running for cover is probably the right response when the crows start harassing a hawk, because the crows are their early warning system and safe diversion. When they are frozen and stay that way, no crows calling, I get concerned that there's something close by.

This month has been pretty mild where I am. Temperatures of 40-50 F.
Why don't we get nostalgic of the hot weather we've hopefully been wanting?

Happy Sunday! Everyone got out today. Within my yard I have a fenced off vegetable garden that I ferried Perry (?) over to. Well, she was getting along so well across the fence with the other youth (grooming along side them, synchronized scratching) that I thought I would invite them in as well- give them a chance at being a trio. Well, here they come. Marching, it seems like.

Run away!

She read them right; after this photo Albert used her meanest big girl peck to show her how unwelcome she was. :smack

So Albert and Whiskey got kicked back out.

Seems like normal behavior. Maybe another week side by side like that, then provide plenty of escape avenues and visual blocks. But how gorgeous - I thought she seemed to have grey-green legs! They do look pretty green in this picture!
