I know all 4 of my marans hatched. I just don't know if any of the others are marans mixes, because they have feathered legs as well as cochins. Cochins tend to be EXTRA hairy like silkies!!!

It will be super fun watching them grow up!

Try to take only at night, you still need a good sleep to heal well.

Can you take Ibuprofen or Aleve? They will help with swelling and pain.

Yes I took ibuprofen with dinner. Tomorrow my paperwork says I can start weaning to take a dose when I wake and another at bedtime, then ibuprofen in between. Sounds like a plan to me.

Let them grow. As they feather out (sometimes including adult 12 week moult) and start laying, things will eventually come clear....mostly

I now realize, since I am zonked out of my mind on post-surgery meds, that I am VERY confused as to the breeds and mixes of most of these chicks. So there's a few that cannot be anything else, and a bunch that I'm not sure.

It doesn’t really matter much except that it’s fun to guess. As they get older it will likely get easier, baby chicks are hard to i.d. There several folks here that are great with figuring out breeds.

I only knew about the Jubilee because I had them and remember being quite confused as to why the mahogany speckled chickens I ordered were hatching out yellow. I never would have guessed. It was quite the transformation from chick to adult.
