Synopsis for Fluffy Butt Acres to June 28th

Thank you @knoturavggrl for the synopsis from last week

It has been a big week at FBA.

First of all our beloved Hattie gave @BY Bob a big scare she recovered quickly under Bob's tender care. But she was soon in trouble with Aurora so Bob got her some new roommates, and they seem happy together.

The heat wave prompted some home improvements, and during the day she got to hang out and watch TV with a buddy.
Hattie is feeling much better (and particularly beautiful!), and is getting chilled treats, and taking advantage of some breeze.

Once the weather cooled FBA started the drama of integration!

Showed us her wonderful double-tent brooder.
And has a poorly Buckeye.

@Grandma The Chicken
Shared the lovely last ever picture of Grandma.

Has been giving us updates on little Rue who has been struggling. The latest thinking is that she has had an injury.

Once again deserves our sympathy. That one so young should be so muddled about the days of the week is just very sad.

Shared pictures of babies!!
And gave us a terrifying update on Gryffyn.

Showed us a range of different types of comb and crest.
Marble is moving on to his next home.
Sadly Breazy had some heart issues. His comb started turning purple, and unfortunately he did not survive the heat wave.
Rest in peace Breazy.

The Integration is in Full Swing

The fence has been down most of the day.

Aurora and Aster again went into the Cluckle Hut and "checked it out".

Lady Featherington jumped them twice so far. No one else has really bothered with them.

I got this family portrait when I broke out the blueberries.

The groups are not mixing at all.

After the second attack from Lady Featherington they have resorted to camouflage.

Its going to rain soon so I am hanging out with them waiting for the rain to make sure they get to cover safely.

They made it through, I know it is hard to watch though They are truly adorable

Sleep well, Breezy. You demonstrated how stunning a pure white bird could be.

Goth chicken, reminds me of high school (and beyond...) Cemani the "void chicken"

Got some time to get out and chicken sit today. It was a smidge cooler today thankfully.

Nyx and Pebble, they are beautiful and oh so tiny. Do they really not get much bigger? Are they slower to mature like E. Orps? I knew they would be small of course but my goodness these two are itty bitty.

Caper hunting a bug

Chervil, Parsley, and Juniper getting some cold water. I have noticed all the girls are getting a blush of pink in their combs. I am in no hurry but it will be lovely to have fresh eggs again.

The big boys

Reaching the point I will have to choose, looking at my girls I think I will get more diversity in feather colors if I keep him. So far he has been a gentleman, but teen boyhood is right around the corner.

I'll try to get a photo of Holly, Georgie and one of the buff orps so you can see the size comparison. Georgie is very tiny compared to my other silkies, Marty is next smallest. Holly is quite tiny but I think she will get a bit bigger, she's 6 months old now.

They really are interesting birds with their all black colouring. I think it's the combs that are the weirdest part of them - makes they very striking looking!

This gave me an idea for Rues recovery down the road. At the moment everything is completely flat of course. Food and water are able to be accessed even if she lays down to do eat or drink.

If she continues her slow recovery though maybe I can make a few things her to start to hop up on ect. Something to keep in mind, ty!

When she's walking around enough, maybe just a small step up, onto a branch or dowel or a brick to start, before impact things like flap-jumping?

Auntie Aurora

The sweetest thing happened today and I did not film it. I was on breakup duty worried about interactions between the Phyllistines and the big girls so I did not think to grab my phone and film.

Later in the afternoon, the Phyllistines were over by the shed and they found something in the grass. I could tell from their voices they weren't sure what to do with it. Aurora must have heard them and she slowly walked over to them talking as she went.

I was sure she was going to jump them.

Instead, whatever she said kept the Phyllistines from running off. Trust me they have been avoiding all the big girls today. Instead, Aurora showed them whatever it was and taught them something. After a bit of pecking and conversation, Aurora walked away peacefully.

She is back at it. She may not have liked Phyllis, but these two she is teaching. She may be mean to Hattie but she had never been anything but nice to Aster. Auntie Aurora likes the kids.

Everyone is roosted as they should be in their coops. No roosting shenanigans tonight.
