Yes. Exactly right. Bleeding risk aside aspirin or ibuprofen are better because they reduce the swelling that causes pain.Yes, with rounding - 14 mg is the correct dosage, and 16 mg (.5 ml) should be within the reasonable margin or error/safe zone. So, yes, give 0.5 ml to Aliss.
?Are you sure she is 3 lbs? Isn't she part Marans? I would have expected her to weigh more! That said.......if anything, and she does weigh more, then you would be under dosing her, which is safe...and would still give her some pain relief....under dosing in this situation is far better than overdosing.
I completely agree that, in this case, Aspirin would NOT be a good alternative, as you don't know about internal injuries, and risk bleeding. I personally would, whenever you have a bit of extra money, get some liquid children's Ibuprofen to have on hand. It is both a pain reliever and an anti-inflammatory (unlike tylenol/acetaminophen which works differently on pain, and is not an anti-inflammatory)
@RoyalChick or @Ponypoor - feel free to correct me - but this is my understanding.
I actually think we are past any internal bleeding risk now - but acetaminophen is what we have to work with.
I keep baby aspirin on hand. No liquid to measure with.
