I trimmed the tip off the top part so she hopefully won’t catch it on anything. I thought about gluing it but I’m guessing it’s swollen. I didn’t want to seal anything in either. It’s the top that is sorta loose but not enough that it came off.
Not sure there is much I can do but keep it clean.

I went back and looked really closely at that nail. :hmm No logical reason it split.
The nails aren't overgrown or dried out looking or fragile looking.
She had to have caught it just right on the edge of something hard while running.

I would be trying to keep it clean too...I have zero advice I guess. Just still surprised she did that to her nail.

Poor thing! I hope it heals fast.

At least you got something out of it that you can use! If you were a true hoarder you would have kept the coolers too.

Ha! That's why I love the poop board w/ PDZ. It sucks to scoop it every day, but it's MUCH better than shucking partially dried poop off it.
I like vinyl floors with deep layers of shavings . No way I am scooping daily with all these birds.

LOL I have a few bigger coolers from my cousin I haven't found a use for... but I might

I do not know if it applies to dog toenails or not, but once I slammed my thumb in a van sliding door. Lost the nail, and when it re-grew it has a groove that is weak and always splits the nail up into the quick. Once injured, it has been compromised for the rest of my life!

Keeping it clean will be a full time job! Dog toenails are anything but clean. Maybe one of the boots for dogs? People in Phoenix get them because it is too hot to walk their dogs.
She would eat the boot. LOL

My guess is when she was digging a hole in the yard right next to the sidewalk. For some reason the dogs have started eating that dirt. She gets herself into all sorts of weird predicaments. She’s caught her tags on something more then once and straightened the split ring they are held on with.

Vinyl flooring would be awesome in there. I have a lot less birds than you, but I would def be looking for a better solution if I have more birds, or meat birds b/c they are pooping machines.

I didn't see them, but the place the neighbor was in has chickens

Ok... I don't get why (HOW?!) eggs would need to be pasteurized for the ppl to eat them

More than once I have done the yard search for missing tags. No idea what they snagged on but the tags were all found along with that straightened ring.

I did LOL when the coon hound was trying to be sneaky and help wash dishes as I loaded the dishwasher. She got snagged on the lower tray. First was freeze second was freak out. Yes I saved her, no it didn't stop her from trying to "help".

Government regs for nursing homes...FDA and all that.

I cannot donate eggs to the food pantries for that same reason but I can donate veggies fertilized with chicken poop.

 It makes no sense.

The Phoenix dogs learn the boots are required to go for walks, so they even roll over and wave their paws in the air to go for a walk! LOL
