Official Squatch Watchers

I am so sorry Cappy. I have no solid evidence to back it up, but from my own experience with my Father's flock, and from hearing other people's stories it seems SS may be particularly susceptible. Other breeds (including weirdly enough Faverolles) have greater natural resistance. But I know that doesn't help the pain and shock of losing birds. Sending good vibes and lots of hugs :hugs:hugs:hugs

This morning was craptastic, cold as a witches teat, all the water frozen solid. I had to bring the roo in to work on his foot, he broke a feather so i removed the shaft and corn starched him up. The whole time I'm listening to hubs go on about how much attention the chickens get. I made the roo some oatmeal and let him eat in the kitchen just to rile him up...big cry baby.;)

Here's a vid on how to make the hook. The T Handle idea sounds interesting. Supposedly, they will instinctively step up on it as they are nearly comatose after dark. Then you just lower them down to the second person who picks them up off the perch. To much light is also not good. Working a net in tree limbs and a tight run is no fun at all.

 RJ you are my hero!!!! This thing is awesome and I can make it myself!!!! Thank you!! Gonna try and rig up a T-post too. I will report back everyone!

I have learned since i got them that they are susceptible. Never lost any when i lived in TN.

I understand. The exact same thing happened to my Father. He started with a small flock of 6. Lost both his SS, but the 4 black australorps are all still going strong for now :fl. We didn't start researching resistance etc until later.

But I still have faith that some of yours will pull through! :fl:fl:fl And I personally interpret it as a sign that we should all get a bunch of super derpy faverolles like @Chickassan has. As a precaution. Cause we are responsible. (And I love the really fluffy breeds) <3
