Official Squatch Watchers

Ok squatchers off the topic of eggs and chicks for a minute...
Would you all care to weigh in on your thoughts about
The possibility of adding a KITTEN to my already chaotic PUPPY life...
I miss my cat so very much.

Should I just go for it or wait?

I would go for it. :hugs

The puppy is 18 weeks old. Learning and growing fast. I am ON TOP OF THIS PUPPY 24/7.
Our old dog Jonah I can tell is missing his cat as much as I am.

I know I’m nuts to even consider it at this time.

Cat or kitten -it’ll definitely be from a rescue group and from the one I’ve used before. They are wonderful. And they have already put the first year of medical stuff into them before they release them to an owner.

I’d prefer a young cat/kitten though I think because of the bonding issue and because I would like it to learn to “be” with us -dogs included, rather than be aloof and hide.

I’m going to take a nap soon while
The puppy naps and wait for inspiration while it rains...
My way of
Dealing with things ...
If you're thinking more about how it is w an 18 week old pup, maybe wait a bit and get one this fall. It'll make it easier for you to get your summer stuff done w/o feeling bad for not having a ton of time, and hopefully your pup will be further along in his training.

I had the window open and a cat that had been hanging around for a year jumped in. He acted like he had lived there all his life... Wouldn't come near when he lived outside, but took over my lap and bed when he moved in.
ETA he didn't belong to anyone that would admit it...he was fixed

Actually DD, i rarely get out of bed before 10 am . Often i don't go outside until 12 noon or 1 pm. But once out there i work pretty steadily, except for my breaks. I have lots to accomplish! I need more rabbit hutches, a quail brooder, turkey housing and another hoop coop. Not done with planting the garden, and i have a lot of fencing to install.
I just came in for the night at midnight, i was socializing baby bunnies and cutting toenails. View attachment 1399346
Some of the recently hatched chicks.
Cute feathered family members:jumpy

We lost our 2 1/2 year old kitty last month to a sudden illness.
Right now we don’t have any cats and I miss him so so very much :hit:hit:hit

I have been very depressed and cry-ie.

*We are always limited to 1 cat only in our house because of the allergy factor.
Hugs, its ok to cry when you lose a family member.

Two of “the littles”. Any thoughts on breed? I was told Cuckoo Marans but you never know. Healthy is what matters. I’m just curious. (And girls right?)

Fun fast story.
I married a guy from a family of weak immune systems and allergies.

I figured we’d never have a cat.

One year long ago he came home on my bday with one of those i love pets cardboard boxes.
Dinner was on the table and all the kids were washing their hands.

He’s a prankster.

I told the kids to ignore the box and sit down to eat.

We all sat down.

A few seconds later the box moved.

DS #2 screamed
Agh! The box moved!
What’s in the box???!!

DH said it’s a cat for your mother.

No way. This guy’s allergic to cats and doesnt even like them.

I stayed put.
Commanded kids to keep eating.

The box moved again.

DH said
I guess the cats gonna suffocate
Because your mother’s gonna leave him in the box.

I jumped up and opened it and out pops this beautiful ginger boy. Grown but young.

Max.

I loved that cat. We loved that cat.
Even DH who as it turned out had begged his allergist to add “cat” to his allergy shot recipe and waited a year to get me a cat.

Sadly he let himself out of the house one day a few years later. He was so dammmm smart. Should have named him Harry Houdini.

I’m sure that’s how he wound up at the pound in the first place.

He was not a cat to be confined.

6 months later I found him via a newspaper ad.

He’d made himself a new home with a bonafide cat lady about ten miles away.

I was relieved to know the alligators hadn’t eaten him.

After that we’ve always had one cat at a time.
Got them from babies so they’d get used to getting frequent baths to keep the allergens down.

I know right. But would he kill me if he came home and I’d gotten one?

He thinks the universe is going to “send me one”.

But what if I need to go pick it up???!?!?!
