I hatched 10 eggs . To me 6 look like they are pure silkies, 2 some sort of Cochin mix maybe and the other two hatched from a frizzle hen. Let me know what you think I have and if you want to try and sex them too 😉 I would appreciate any insight! Thanks
Hello. I have a frizzled cochin bantam and a porcelain d’uccles bantam. I have posted on here before about the cochin’s belligerent personality.
Essentially, Gwen, the d’uccles, was so depressed she looked like she was going to die because of the bullying. Now, I have them separated, and...
Hi all,
Here’s a brief history on our new little flock:
We were given four chicks (Wyandotte, Cochin, Sussex) at the beginning of shelter in place because the person who hatched them wasn’t able to keep them. We are new to chickens but I’ve done a lot of research and were able to raise them...
So I’ve never owned a frizzled Cochin bantam before. I thought this one was a frizzle but as its feathers continue to grow in I’m second-guessing it.
Pic above is from when it was about 2 and a half weeks old where I really thought it’s a frizzle. The feathers that were beginning to grow in...
Everyone pegged this as a hen. Still think so or is LuLu a Lue and a second rooster?
I think we are 5 months+ in age. This bird is TINY and hides under or behind my very well I know is a rooster, Roo. But I think might have tried to crow yesterday. At least there were some demon sounds coming...
Hi guys!
I need help pleasee. I went to my coop and checked on the chicks that were supposed to hatch overnight, I found 3 which were perfectly healthy and fine but one which was under the small food tray without any skin on its head and multiple deep wounds to its skull, it was all bloody...
I got 3 - 3 day old silkie chicks from the pet/poultry store. The girl assisting me was talking over the phone to figure out how to identify them out of the mix of 100 crazy chicks running around!
So between the two of us, we found 2 that are definitely silkies (black feet, 5 fluffy toes...

Hey there! Newbie here! I have a question about one of my 3 week old chicks! I bought him/her from an assorted Bantam bin at TSC, and I just love him/her! Definitely a Cochin Bantam, but I am 90% sure it’s a roo, due to how red it’s comb is already! What do you guys think?
I'm very new to this,..
Can you tell which one's are roosters and hens? They are now 5 weeks old.
I cannot tell 5 and 6 apart. They look so much alike.
Number 3 is def the biggest of them all!
1, 2 are Cochin Bantam buff
3, 4 are Wyandotte Bantam patrijs
5, 6 are Wyandotte Bantam red /...
Hi all,
We have two bantam chicks Im wondering if anyone might know what they are and possibly breed? They arrived at TSC on April 7 so maybe 2.5 weeks?
Our guesses were Buff Cochin and maybe Creole OEG? Hoping for two pullets 😬
thanks!
So about a month ago I bought six bantam chicks from tractor supply. Two are solid cockerels, one black and one white, and I know for sure three, possibly the other four are Cochin bantams. The one cockerel is a splash frizzle, the other possible cockerel is a barred cochin, one of the pullets...
I have a Molted Black Cochin Frizzle Roo and thinking about breeding him with black and blue silkies. Good idea ? Bad Idea? And what do you think they will look like ? And info would be greatly appreciated!
I was looking for D’Uccles and grabbed two that were self blue. These other two one is more golden and other is lighter. Was looking for cheeks! But think the lighter one is a Cochin. Any hints?
My bantam Lemon Splash rooster has successfully produced a fertile egg with my bantam SL Wyandotte. Any ideas what I’ll be looking at, in terms of the chick? Feather footed, but genetically, which coloring might be more dominant? It was so cool to see it moving around when we candled tonight!
