So, I've mentioned before that mom is notorious for trying to change chicks names after they are a few months old. She is at it again, and this time so is dad.

Cricket, my mostly white girl with black spots. Dad has decided that no she is not Cricket any longer she is Spot. Of course mom agrees.

If they were only focusing on Cricket I could let it go...but mom is also after another girl for a name change....and I am resisting.
Karen.

Mom has not settled just yet on a name. She is tossing around Coco, Snickers, and Reese's. Basically she is not a Karen, but some sort of chocolate. Nope, I think she is still Karen.

She is also giving Twig the side eye, under no circumstances shall Twiggy get a name change.
Yep she is Karen! Wow, she is going to turn out gorgeous. I just love her looks, since day 1.

More tax pics:

The Geese have eagle eyes. Here Dalilah spotted an airplane that was so high in the sky, it looked like a speck. Took me forever to figure out what she was observing!

Sampson 'spreading his wings' What a wing span they have! They will both stand and flap when they are first let out in the morning - it is funny because they 'bounce' a bit as they get some lift....but they aren't actually trying to fly!

Great pictures!

😆 😅 🤣 OMG this is a great business idea. portable chicken sit with poop catcher.

(Are you risking your marriage too often? I still remember the geese... )
No, not really, hubby was just like 'What the heck are you doing"....when I explained it was just for a picture, he was 'oh, okay...just wanted to be sure you weren't going to watch tv with a chicken getting comfortable in here':lau:lau

The Geese....since I got him hooked on them before he knew they were geese...he is now completely okay with them (I knew he would be if I could get him past the fear factor) He is actually fond of the geese now. Still doesn't spend 'quality time' with them, but if they are let out to free range, and he is working in the yard, the geese come over (leading their group of ducks!) to check out what he is doing, and will follow him around until they are 'satisfied', then go on their way. Really adorable! Like puppy dogs following you around :)

Ok chicken math economics:

Yesterday I got 5 eggs! Woohoo! Marty started back laying eggs even though she is molting .

The chickens pay for their feed with eggs! The horses need
To start laying eggs rather than road apples!

I thought they stopped laying when they melted???
Well, they would stop laying if they are melted...

OK, so Shad has mentioned somewhere that chickens stop laying during molting is misinformation.

That is awesome! Did you get geese for protecting your flock?

My experience only: my really fast molters (i.e. naked chickens) stop laying for part of the molting process. My more 'normal' molters slow down laying, but don't stop.,,or if stop, only for a week or so. My really slow molters (I've only ever had 2 REALLY SLOW molters), I didn't really notice a difference. But the slow molters you could barely tell they were molting....no 'bad hair' days with them they were so slow at molting.
