I will be happy if I get some blue-ish eggs!

I love my EEs though. They are/were real characters!

I'm sorry this is the outcome. I sure hope she can make new friends there. Hopefully Ginger hasn't spread nasty rumors about her.
Thank you Bob. As you read ahead, you will learn that everything is fine now. Inky will stay and Ginger will be at my friend's house.

My friend loves Ginger, and so does her head rooster. My friend is happy to learn that she gets to keep Ginger. Ginger is living a good life there. She is smart and resilient.

It is a sick chicken, but I respectfully disagree, I believe this picture should be thought of as "useful", not "awful".
We sometimes post photos of our sick chickens too and I don't think they're awful. Hard to watch yes. They're probably not useful either but a sad and important part of chicken keeper's life as you unfortunately so well know.
Edit : rereading what I just wrote and looking back at the picture I realize this could be offensive. It wasn't my intention and I don't think it was @bgmathteach either 🙁
No offense that I see. You are right. The photo can serve a constructive as well as the silly purpose I have twisted it to.

Not at all offensive.
I was using awful in a maybe sloppy, but I think still correct way to emphasize how extreme it is.
I think we could both agree with the following (which weirdly sounds very British to me):
It was awfully useful of @bgmathteach to post a picture of such an awfully sick chicken.
Phew! That took some work to construct!
:lau

And before the tax authorities seek me out here is tax payment - a chicken that looks like she is close to starting laying (which would be awfully exciting!).

She is one lovely lady. Look at that red comb and wattles!

Branch really takes his daddy duties to the next level. I tried to get a family picture with both chicks in it. It did not work out, one would stay in front of Chiquita or right next to Branch just out of view. He still also calls and feeds Twig and George. Chiquita takes the chicks to bed about a hour before dark. Almost every evening when she first takes them to bed he follows and hops into the tote with them and sits close to her and the chicks use him as a play ground. Before dark though he hops up onto the roost and sleeps facing the box's direction so he can keep a eye on them. Bubba is good with the chicks, he will occasionally offer them food but his #1 priority is taking care of the hens, and escort duties. Momma hens are due I think to hatch by the weekend, I'm curious to see if Branch is just as good with them. I know he will try, the question will be if Momma Hen will allow him to get close.

What a great rooster that fellow is. Amazing! :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

Inky gets to stay
I think Inky learned the plan that we are going to invite Ginger back and dump her to another home (maybe through secrete antenna chatting with Lulu...), or maybe the other 5 girls don't want Ginger back 😂 , but they got along totally fine in the confined run today😃.
Inky even dust bathed with them!!

Maybe they just need this one week to settle down since Ginger's departure? Maybe Inky finishing molting and gained more confidence? Maybe it's the fact that Inky won two 1-on-1 battles and earned their respect? I have no idea but all is fine now.
