YAY for reading!I would so much rather get her books, including classics while she has the interest instead of video games or other junk.
DH told me this story about when he was a kid: Whenever they'd go anywhere on a trip, he and his brother were told they could each pick out a book when they stopped at a store. Not candy, not a T-shirt. A book. This was from his mother. It got him on a life long habit of reading.
His dad would consult with them on any other "cool" souvenier, like rocks, or a carving, or something to hang on the wall.
