Thanks! I am just behind now and just popping back and forth so it was handy to catch-up on some of the happenings.

Was hoping for some more photos of Bob’s twins 🥰

Silkies are supposed to have a walnut comb. @Ponypoor what does his ma have? If she does have the walnut comb, he could easily have gotten the RP from her and had it get odd with Mr P's V-comb that does so many funky things.
Here is Betty, she has a spikey crown for a comb

Those nostrils frequently occur with V-comb birds. I wonder if there's a connection back in history somewhere.
Probably most likely. I talked w/ a Breda Fowl owner yrs ago who got some Le Fleche birds to crossbreed w/their Breda to infuse hardiness into them but that breeder is no longer available to contact.

Wish there was better documentation on old breeds.

Supposedly, the Pilgrim Dominiques and Breda (Guelders) were mentioned as Colonial chickens but there's no reliable historical documentation of what the Colonial Breda looked like. The Dominiques were a preferred Pilgrim breed for their multi-purpose use as broodies, egg production, meat, & very soft non-odorous feathers for bedding/pillows/mattresses. So the Breda faded from Colonial preference.

The Dutch formulated the current Breda Fowl cuz it was originated near the town of Breda but who knows if it is now anything like the Pilgrim Breda mentioned in old documents? There is one portrait painting showing a Breda but who knows going farther back what Breda looked like?

A close-up of the supposed Breda rooster in the above painting (Breda then were known as Guelders.) It's a stretch in my mind that this roo looks anything at all like the present Breda.

Thank you 😊

How do you keep your pavers clean? I am forever sweepimg my barn floor!
I sweep & scrape every day ... but 2 hrs later ... looks like sh*t again :lau & we have only 6 hens! We don't mind though ... at least the girls can come to the back door whenever they want to visit or tell us there's a cat in the yard ... or if they want a treat refill!

Honestly, I prefer pavers over dirt or grass & seems the girls do too.
