Weekly synopsis for week of 27 Sept to 04 Oct 2025
Previous week’s synopsis
BY Bob
Big happenings at FBA – the lost of Nimue was very tragic, but there is a new hope.
Niamh seems the think that she would like to be a house chicken!
And wonderful News – Niamh has laid her first egg – well done beautiful girl!
And the newest member of FBA makes a Monday début – what a gorgeous pullet!
Wait though, more amazing News… Everyone meet Tilley – gosh she is so lovely also!
It is hoped that Niamh will learn to roost in the Cluckle Hut and not be caught outside roosting on what seems to be a favourite spot these days.

Pony Sunday is Shrimpie Sunday – this makes me want to get an aquarium again!
The lure of a beautiful Silver Laced Polish pullet has been calling Rebecca’s name and it seems one has been found.
Unfortunately the pullet is ill and the owner is keeping her at home for now to treat her – we all hope that the wee one gets better soon.
The predator who has been responsible for the death of dear George and other flock mates has been spotted.
So very sad to hear that the Polish pullet Rebecca was hoping to get has passed away. Fly high lovely chickie.
rural mouse
What’s up ladies? What do you see?
More pretty ladies and a fluffy baby.
A BFTP with Thing and Primula – oh I may never get my Dark Brahma now but so beautiful, and I would love a Houdan like Thing also.
And more BFTP…
For Caturday – action photos say it all! What fun!
RoyalChick
Who doesn’t love throwing themselves down on the ground in the sun.
There is quite a bit of discussion surrounding the revelation that Chips is Mr Chips. Cockerels are the topic of discussion, and their behaviour is the subject.
I am just loving Mr Chips – maybe a Speckled Suspect would be a great addition to one’s flock.
Oh my what a handsome wee lad!
SimpleJenn
I just love seeing all the pretty chooks out and about, such a gorgeous flock!
The Polish youngsters may get more regal names – they sure are beautiful!
A wee chickie is unwell, thinking good thoughts and hoping he is well soon.
Wee chickie NiNi is eating and trying to move around. Sure hope he recovers soon.
Jenn has created some therapeutic shoes for wee NiNi to help with his feet.
featherhead007
Featherhead has been having issues with a neighbour’s hen attacking Nacho, seems she is safer in the house.
Seems everyone is moulting, tis the season I guess.
Good morning Xzit – how are you today? I have a fondness for zebra chooks.
Kattabelly
Awwww – this poor wee fella got himself into a bit of a bind, why are youngsters prone to such things?
Ooooo another zebra chook – she’s a beauty! And thirsty too it seems!
notabitail
It’s always a treat to see notabitail’s lovely flock (many of whom lay blue eggs it seems!).
Is this heads or tails? Great photo catch!
Marie2020
Caturday – what a gorgeous moggy – and he looks very happy with his home.
Marie introduced us to a new BYC member – all are welcome!
bgmathteach
With the revelation of cockerels new to people’s flock the discussion surrounding their behaviour has been very interesting. Seems they need to learn the hard way like most youngsters.
LhickenChicken
@lickenchicken where are you? Hope all is ok.
Knoturavggrl
The challenge of enabling and tempting everyone with gorgeous chooks has been sent out – and these are all chooks I would love to enjoy.
TX Chick Noob
@TX Chick Noob – hope all is ok with you and your feathered friends.
Sylvester017
Pony Sunday showcased her daughter’s pups whom her husband was caring for, such nice pups!
That expectant look of ‘where’s my treat Hooman’ – Dana is such a lovely zebra hen, it’s wonderful she and her silkie friends have each other.
Naming our feathered friends is serious business – I love the name Betta.
More heads or tails….
TOMTE
Oh to be able to throw oneself down like this – bliss for sure!
Some wanna be broody chuckles from Esme and Aliss – the sound of contentment.
fuentemoon
@fuentemoon hasn’t been around in a while – everyone is busy these days.
Sally PB
Planning for Spring chicks already – I cannot wait to see them!
ChicoryBlue
Shenai has been feeling his oats lately, as a young cockerel he is testing the boundaries his place in the flock.
This is actually a really good discussion to be having for anyone who has a flock.
MabynWhisky96
Welcome to a new member on BYC and visitor to FBA, we look forward to hearing more about your flock.
Ponypoor
My lovely Twister has passed away, she was very young at 2.5 yrs old.
The Noirans have been named - finally!
Mother of Chaos
Sorry I missed a person - and this is a very important tale to hear. Our chooks eat whatever they can get their beaks on: eyeballs, toes, other chooks, and it seems various types of hardware and other objects - in this case a toothpick!
A visit to the Vet though cleared the wee chook and she seems to be doing fine.

OK everyone have a lovely day/evening/night, and remember to keep smiling!

Hi all posting this copy of my post on Shad’s thread. Anyone have ideas what I can do, or should? Please post over there if you do.

Hi friends, anyone with experience with possible emergencies involving chickens eating pointy things, could you please look at my thread? https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...let-just-swallowed-plastic-toothpick.1677467/
I’m scared out of my mind
