Saw y'all talking about the chicken book and had an Amazon gift card from Christmas, Soo... here's to hoping the used book is actually in "good" condition

Merry Christmas Day to all my non-Aussie friends! I hope everyone in Oz had a lovely day and that Santa was good to them.

I didn't get a copy of "The Chicken- a natural history " for Xmas. Good news is that it is in the mail!

I did get this though.

I picked up the second edition used... so far I’m really liking it. Good general information and more specifics on the physiology than most of the books I had gotten on poultry up to this point. I haven’t really sat down with it much yet, just browse through a bit before I wrapped it, and a little once I unwrapped it... then my mother and Andrew started making fun of me for being engrossed in a chicken book on Christmas, so I put it down and had dinner with them.

@CrazyChookChookLady I am so sorry for your loss, Stanley was a handsome and excellent Guy.

@Shadrach I am glad your pension is working out. The thought of you not being able to care for the animals is terrifying. I love the thought of you getting your lamps more exposure, they are truly works of art.

I had some Christmas cow and chicken drama here, but everyone is doing alright, and things are back under control. Today was coop cleaning day. I have a lurking bad big bird (either immature eagle or a large red tailed hawk) and another owl. The owl was only 8” tall, and doesn’t seem to be too much of a threat. 35 eggs today (not counting the three that were eaten, or two I stepped on which were buried in the shavings). Roostie's foot is still not good, and no antibiotics yet. I have a backup plan I will try on Monday... of course we are still in molting season apparently, and this poor dear went from bare backed to super spiky overnight

And everyone was very thankful that the nasty white stuff finally disappeared last night, and that they could move to fresh pastures and green grass!

If I’m posting something new instead of replying, I usually post it on your thread, so I remember where I put it. I’m sure Caturday can exist on your thread in tandem with Fluffy Butt Acres!

I think it's moved round a bit. I got so confused I just post my caturday pics on my own thread now ~ unless you or MJ is first off the block & then I join whoever.

Can I just share that I’m excited to go home and see my birds? I miss them so much! We’ll get home a bit late tomorrow night, but I’ll probably have to peek in on them with a headlamp. Then I’m taking Monday off from work to recover AND I have to quarantine when we return, which means working from home for awhile! Woohoo!!!! My sweet dog will be so happy, too. I miss her, too. Poor sweetie has been in doggie hotel this whole time. She will be so excited to come home!

Oh @LozzyR I have to laugh, you and I are a fellow nerds! I too went straight to the search function. In terms of original posts (i.e. excluding replies), Fluffy Butt and Ribh's threads are neck and neck. The original Caturday post on this collection of threads was posted by @MaryJanet on her thread sending a Caturday picture of Blossom for @LozzyR.
But @N F C (Debby) has us all beat, as she wished everyone a happy Caturday waaaaay back in 2015.
I will shut up now and go look for chicken tax.
