I would've if I could! Some day I might have a pair, but I need to own my own land before that endeavor.

My guess is they need a lot of space if they like running.

I've just had a brief look into various ways of preventing this disease. I do not know if you can acquire these plants or herbs or even if you could grow some if them in your area.
Maybe you can find these natural preventatives online. I will certainly look these up for my own girls.

It is too late for your one little guy but hopefully you can help the others by finding a solution. I use a clay power which I add to their food but after reading up I want to find more to aid their defences.

I seem to have some new friends.

My new friends have eggs.

And one broody mother duck

All this would be lovely except that it is my pool they have taken over.
Also I fear they are very exposed to fox attack where they have their nest, but I don’t think there is anything I can do about that.
I think they might be wanting to move into the Chicken Palace!
