So what? Being young doesn't stop them going broody. Sorry Alex. One of mine laid 2 eggs then hid 6 & went to sit on them. Craziness. They aren’t even a year old yet!![]()

That is stunning!Beautiful Lilly!
Also one of my favorite flower types in the gardenView attachment 2808293
How cute would she be with one tucked behind her ear?![]()
Holly started laying at 5 1/2 months old. Laid for about 2 weeks and went broody, hatched her first chicks at 6 1/2 months old. Bunny and Clover also went broody and hatched before a year old. Bunny just hatched her 2nd clutch and does not turn a year until the end of the month. They aren’t even a year old yet!![]()
You are correct in describing her shape. She almost has an hourglass look to her. This photo looking down on her captures it somewhat.Lilly has a strongly sculpted feather / body shape, I never realized it was like that. Holds her wings in tight, well-tucked under her broad breast feathers. Above and below her wings there is quite a change of width between her pantaloons and her rump feathers. Remarkable! She doesn't do a lot of antics, right? You've called her serious. And the crown is heavy. And she furrows her brow at times. Could you call her rather steadfast and unflappable, even relatively calm, as far as chickens go, or not? She looks quite stately in these pictures. Love it!![]()

And she is broody for the 3rd time at 18 months old. So yes I caved since I will have a hen to raise them, she is on day 3 of incubation of the final 8 Drumstick eggs.Gezzzzz!![]()
Hand drawn traditional animation for film, although probably not on cells, rather my computer. I use an art tablet.Forgive my question if ignorant, do you mean animation like comic books, video animation like motion pictures, or motion capture like video games?
My worst banty from last year & the nut job who went broody as soon as she began laying are sitting for me now. I'm about to put fertile Campine & Aracauna eggs under them & hope for pullets. My 1st time doing this so a tad worried. And she is broody for the 3rd time at 18 months old. If my broody girls have taught me anything it is to just breath and step back and let them do their thing. I watch them like a hawk the first week as they tend to not to want to come off the eggs so if they go longer then 2 days I remove them so they can eat/drink and poop. After that first week they settle right into the routine and come off themselves like clockwork once a day. Then at the end a day or 2 before the chicks hatch they'll come off for that final time and whereas before they might be off for maybe 30 minutes they will take up to 2 hours before returning to the nest. This is normal and ok as I think they know the chicks are due to hatch and they will not move until that final egg has hatched. My worst banty from last year & the nut job who went broody as soon as she began laying are sitting for me now.
