I have the same heated waterer as @BY Bob, but I noticed that Maggie is a real wattle-dunker and I got worried about her getting frostbite on her wattles so I got this one and just stand a 5gallon bucket with horizontal nipples on it.
This morning it had definitely got ice in it but was not completely frozen solid so they were still getting water.
I find the bucket waterer with nipples easier to fill than the bottom-fill one that Bob uses - but I think his is stronger heat so probably wouldn't have had an ice issue.

I have never had an ice issue with it, even down to -10°F.

All Present and Accounted for

Despite the bitter cold they are out this morning. Lots of sun about.

It will leave a bruise on a human if fired at to close a range. Will that deter a fox? I don't know.
I'm afraid foxes are wiley enough that s/he will just alter when they come around. At least the girls (yours & @micstrachan )are only out when you are there, so there wouldn't be an opportunity for him/her at other times.

I must say, yours, after watching the video again, weren't 'relaxed & chillin' :( Mine sound similar, but I bit different...kinda like somewhere between your hen's sound and a very LOUD cat purr. (but different than what I call 'cooing')
Mine live in constant fear these days. I doubt they ever fully relax any longer.

I wonder, if the plant pots have a bit of mold on them they might be eating that. Or if they are old plastic they might be eating it because it's slightly crumbly. I removed a broken old white plastic chair I had in the run, I noticed the corners of the legs and the front of the seat, which used to be grey-ish with age and who knows what, were becoming white again. Then caught Popcorn tapping on it. So she is eating the plastic. I replaced the chair with an oak one. Now I see she is tapping the other chair on the back, that's a folding wood one holding the big perch. I thought it was pretty clear but I see has a faint bit of red paint on the back. It's probably got lead and arsenic and... :barnie I need to get a new and safer project for her, chickens are so industrious 🛠️
Most if the plant pots were put out last year the new girls tap everything and got the others joining in as well
