The yellow head spot is indicative of barring. That chick will be barred to some degree. I've seen olive Eggers barred (pinstripes), cuckoo marans, barred rocks, dominiques (rose combs), and it's frequently used in sex-link/auto-sexing too.
I know....which has me very stumped. What I ordered: 6 Welsummer, 6 BCM, 3 'white egg layers', and I got a 'free Meyer Meat Maker' (MMM) Only, I really didn't, as I was shorted one....so somebody is missing.....given that this one has a spot on it, I'm thinking it isn't BCM. However, it clearly isn't a Welsummer ( which 2 were DOA, another passed - one of the two very weak ones - yesterday morning), there aren't any white egg layers it matches, and I was told the "MMM" was an EE that week. (That said, maybe they swapped it out/ran out of EE - the MMM is always a dual purpose chick that they have extra hatch. One of my Chipmunk striped ones has puffier cheeks than the others, so I assumed that was an EE and I was shorted Welsummer.... But now I'm thinking...maybe not? Maybe I was shorted a BCM and I have either a CM or BR, or maybe a Dominique, but I don't think so due to the comb......? They were ALL supposed to be pullets - including the MMM....which, if it is a BR ( :love ), that would make sense as it is a smaller spot than would be typical for a BR Roo.

@micstrachan How is prepping for the move going...
or are you already in process of physically moving?

I won't ask about the new set-up for the girls, as you said you would post an update on that later. I do hope all is going well....moves are so stressful & a huge time-sink!
Thanks for checking in. Sorry… I meant I would provide an update on all of it once things are a bit more settled.

What a fantastic piece! And yes, totally perfect for chicken visiting - even for medical examination.
What would it have been for originally do you think?
It is an older style of furniture....I once had a dentist who had a couple of these in his waiting room (when I was a wee lass.....) I think they were 'telephone tables'.

This is what I found with a very quick google search. Clearly the style is different, but general form/function is the same.

I'm so excited....:wee
look what I got for free (at the transfer station)

You are probably saying 'What...who would be so excited about that...I mean it's okay, but...."

Well, it is my official Chicken Run Chair!!! It is perfect...sturdy, roomy seat with arm for me (knees and hips are bad, so arm for getting up is a huge win) AND...it has an attached side table for the hens that want to be close but not held!!! I'm in love with it. Now, just a bit of light sanding and some eurathane...and a cheap seat cushion...and we will be ready to go.:celebrate
I would be thrilled too! That is a great piece.

Noon check, no pips. 10 minutes off the nest for food, poop, and more water guzzling. I stood guard over the nest while waiting for my high maintenance mama to have her alone time. I did see a wiggle though… from the egg that’s front and Center

Yes - a telephone table.
Look up telephone table on Etsy. They sell for $500-600.

Another Monday Mugshot… here’s Trouble

In her broody nest box… awaiting air lift to the meat tractor, where she was quite active eating, walking around a bit, and drinking… so looking much better! Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery and goes back to pecking most everyone, myself included (but not Tailless, meat mama, or my Bully Girl!)
