@BY Bob : I'm not receiving notifications again. Not ignoring you. It is frustrating. I like to keep up with what's happening in everyone's flocks.

No worries. I am now rotating through everyone's threads because of that. Too many times I have found myself way behind trying to catch up. I especially do not get notified of Kris' thread.

Snacking in Bed

We were away last weekend for my youngest daughter's engagement party. We got back later than I wanted on Sunday and while it was not dark yet the girls had roosted and would not come back out. Even for mealy worms. Well I could not just let them go to sleep without a treat. So I opened the side of the coop and put a lantern on the roost to light up the coop. Aurora immediately jumped down and started eating from my hand. Lilly and Hattie soon followed.

Maleficent would not come down. I had grabbed her from the roost every night while dosing her a week or so ago when she was sick and I can only believe that she was sure this was a trick. I could not let my sweetheart miss out on the great snacks. So I put some mealy worms on the roost for her and started the camera. You ever see a chicken sit down and eat. Well Mal got very comfortable while snacking.

I hope she didn't get too many crumbs in her bed!

Sweet Mallie!
I just go straight to all of my regular threads and only check my alerts to see if there is something that I forgot....

Congratulations on the engagement :)

Thank you. There has been a lot of family stuff going on here. Some good, some bad. Such is life.

Awe your girls are just as spoiled as mine!!

Wednesday nights I work until 8 pm, since it's getting darker earlier, everyone was roosted when I got home last night. I took the opportunity to go in and pet everyone. They all seemed to enjoy it, even my Breezy boy.

I haven't handled my cockerels much, I want them to do the job they are intended for, but I do like to sneak a pet and a peek at night. Shadow, Cockerel 2 of 3, will come to me for treats and has eaten out of my hand.

I also haven’t really been updating much to be fair! And yes, I too have been missing notifications... I just caught up on about 100+ posts here the other day!

I saw that. I'm glad you caught back up. Hopefully we still entertained you.

Big Day Friday

In a response to @WhoDatChick above I alluded to family challenges recently. I have decided to share. You are all so wonderful I feel I need to do so.

I will not be posting much on the flock this weekend as I am with my daughter, her husband, and my 3 month old granddaughter, Eve.

Little 7 lb Eve (the same size as Hattie) has a hole in her heart and will be having open heart surgery tomorrow around lunchtime here. If all goes well they will close the hole and she will grow up a normal little girl. The surgery has a high success rate but it's still my little grandbaby. I will post again so everyone knows the outcome but I wanted my chicken family to know.

Its been a crazy couple of months. Hopefully all goes well and things start to move forward again for us.
