Is there a noticeable difference between ISA Browns and RIRs?
Yes.

ISA Browns are lighter in color and actually close to red in color

RIRs are actually a deeper color, almost dark brown in color.

So the Browns are reddish and the Reds are brown. Hence the confusion

I can't play - my knowledge of chicken breeds is limited to:
- Leghorns (because of you)
- Legbars (because of all of you)
- Campines (because of @Ribh)
- Naked necks (because of @WhoDatChick and Trump, obviously)
- Rhode Island Reds (because of the vet who explained that Maggie was bred in order to die young :hit)
- Bitsas (because of @MaryJanet and @Shadrach)

I think that is all I could have a shot at recognizing with the exception of the Bitsas which would just have to be my default guess for all other chickens. I will keep trying to learn!
Got to love bitsas. Won't ever get the breed wrong.
