I’ve been doing a little long term planning garden wise... and it has been expanded into hedgerows for chicken cover. My seeds just came in the mail (they cleared customs!!! Yay) I’m planning to plant a Blackthorn hedge, prunus spinosa, which should provide both a cattle barrier and plenty of cover for the free range ladies. Also apparently good for making Gin and tart preserves.

Good thinking. I like this plan.

Yes, I was thinking heron too. Bin chicken usually refers to the Ibis ~ but some places may use it in a more generic way...

That helps to make it less confusing. Geeze you Aussies.

Yes, Oddball is molting! And her name comes from her eggs which are green and always an odd shape, with a weird fat band like they have been squashed at some point. They are 1/4 White Leghorn, 1/4 Crested cream Legbar, and 1/2 Black Copper Marans

You must post a photo of those weird eggs for us!
