I'm not sure I want to know what a "slushy butt" looks like. 🤣 If you are going to post a picture, please use the"spoiler" functionality. 😬
How about Dirty butt acres? How much dirt/forest debris can a chicken pack into their bum feathers? Lots

How? Really... it’s a wonder!
Partial chicken tax payment...

Snow today. Even though the Chicken Palace has two covered runs and two open runs and it was only about an inch of snow the Princesses decided to stay indoors.
The Little Princesses occupied themselves by looking out the window at the snow flakes, while the rest spent their day digging to China.
Nobody had any interest at all in venturing out. I am just glad I built the Chicken Palace big enough for them to hang out comfortably. Cosseted brats that they are!

This is looking very good so far.
Thanks Bob. We will be lifting it onto cinder blocks once we have done 3 walls and the roof.
That's if we can lift it. Some of those pieces of wood are 3.7cm (~1.5") thick!

How do the vents stay open? Is there something like a hinge that cocks open there?

They have hinges which hold them open. I'm not sure how....unless it's the rust.. :idunno
