Wow - mine were out in the run with the frigid wind parting their feathers so I enticed them into the Palace by scattering their regular food on the floor (they fall for that every time!). But I a glad they are out of the wind and beginning to get ready to roost. It is 25F in the Palace which honestly isn't too bad but temperature set to plummet in the night.
Mine have food and water in the coop. They don't need to leave if they don't want to. I am pretty sure they went in because it was so dark they did not want to get caught out in the run. They spent most of the day hanging out in their big run once the snow started. I should have taken photos of them.

I’m feeling bad for you peeps having such a cold front. I’m sending you some California sunshine 🌞
It’s cold out, but sunny here.View attachment 2451988
Thanks so much for the sun. We did not see it today at all. We will have crystal clear cold blue skies tomorrow once the storm is past. The light will be blinding reflecting off of the snow.

Here are some pictures of Roosties foot @BY Bob it is swollen and hot, and no medication came in today... I am starting to feel desperate, but am hesitant to do anything with nasty weather coming in and inadequate indoor space for him. I need my own barn! I am moving the smelly girls into the trailer tonight, as we are getting a rain and windstorm warning.

Will you be able to ice skate on your pool surface? (That would be kinda cool, for Christmas)

Any way to soak that foot in epsom salts?

This is what I use. You cannot hang it. It must sit on something. The cord is heavy enough that it tips it to one side and the water runs out if you try to hang it.

TSC also has other heated water solutions including nipple based ones it you are using those for water.
I suppose you have tried bringing the cord up with the hanger, like twist-tying it to the hanging loop and then the hanging rope, or wrapping around that rope? If you still would like to try hanging it, that is...

Some Purple Corn before the Storm

I thought I'd give the ladies a warm up this morning. It's cold out without wind for the first time this winter.

Aurora is still molting badly and Sansa has started as well. Sansa does have bare spots on her bum but it looks like she can still cover it. I'm worried for Aurora and I'm going to keep an eye on her for signs she is too cold.
Has Aurora always had a crooked (inner) toe on her right foot?

Kris, this might be a really dumb idea & you know heaps more about treating this than I do but have you tried drawing ointment on that? otherwise known as ichthammol ointment.
