Mine have food and water in the coop. They don't need to leave if they don't want to. I am pretty sure they went in because it was so dark they did not want to get caught out in the run. They spent most of the day hanging out in their big run once the snow started. I should have taken photos of them.Wow - mine were out in the run with the frigid wind parting their feathers so I enticed them into the Palace by scattering their regular food on the floor (they fall for that every time!). But I a glad they are out of the wind and beginning to get ready to roost. It is 25F in the Palace which honestly isn't too bad but temperature set to plummet in the night.
