I have been collecting in the evening because nobody has laid when I let them out in the morning and with the snow and ice, multiple trips are not that appealing.
I think someone laid just before going to bed after I locked up and then again just before I came to lock up.
That is the most likely scenario. It is also high production for this time of year! :thumbsup

I know. I don't love that, but they certainly seem to have re-started laying in the last week or two.
I get one blue egg most days and every now and then two. And most days I get 2 brown eggs and sometimes three. But this was a first day with 4 brown!
Maggie seems fully back to herself and is definitely laying so I am really hoping she defies the lash egg prognosis. :fl

It is Time to Go Back

Yes everyone, it is time to enter the Wayback Machine. Mr. Peabody, let's set the Wayback Machine for February 2019.

Jabber convinced Hattie that it would be a good idea to roost up on some chair legs, the chairs had been knocked over in a storm, so that he could stare me down at the coffee pot.

The only problem now was that they needed to get down once I left the coffee pot.

There was really only 1 way.

Mr bluebird was impressed, "That was almost as good as a real bird". 👍👍

Miss Lilly was not, "What an idiot! Taking her up there like that. She could have broken a leg. Does he not realize she is dual-purpose! She is not svelte like me. I can think of a dual purpose for that goober!" View attachment 2529546

Well that was fun Mr. Peabody. Why don't we go back further. Let's set the Wayback Machine for February of 2018.

How about a Vintage Video!? Here is the Big 3 enjoying what? Why spaghetti of course!

Also spotted back then, the rare snowback Maran! Just look at the beautiful sheen in those feathers!

Well Mr. Peabody, this has all been fun but there is one momentous event which we must go see. Please set the Wayback Machine for February 2020.

We met some new friends for the first time on February 9, 2020.

Here they are in the car on the way home.

There is corruption going on in my flock and this is the ring leader.

I'll tell you, that conniving hen has wrangled several of my girls who were faithfully laying in 2 nest spots to join her in playing the find the egg game. So far 2 of my Marans have joined her as well. I currently have 11 hens, 2 are not laying, that I know of. So that leaves the possibilities of 9 eggs today, I got 3 from the normal spots this morning. Thank you Holly, Butter and Clover. One of the Marans girls is in the process of laying in the normal spot right now. I heard the "egg song from one of the girls and decided to go check. It was coming from the hay stack, Momma hen was all tore up and giving me dirty looks as i peeked in and this is what I found.

See that suspicious look, she is up to something all right. I'm not there 30 seconds when i'm met with this.

Another sneaky look, and this was the girl that started the ruckus that brought me outside. So I grab my flashlight, and start looking around. Finally after about 5 minutes I find it.

This one was hid good and I'd walked over it several times. In my searching, Bunny hadn't moved a muscle, so I left them alone and walked just out of her sight. Give her about 2 minutes and peek in. No hen, then i hear movement and look.

Found you girl. She was smart, she went in where she'll have to walk back about 3 feet to get to the hidden nest. I'll leave the eggs alone until everyone has went to roost tonight then get them. But I think i'll leave Momma's alone, at least now I know where the nest is and wont have to search the hay pile daily looking for the new spot.
This is so funny. And look at her hiding under that plank! :lau
