Thanks for sharing your summary!I haven't found any references to specific types of wood when discussing the uses of wood ash, other than to not burn painted & treated wood. Wood contains a lot of calcium and will help raise the pH wherever it's used, for instance as a substitute for lime or addition to concrete mixes, or additions to gardens. I did think possibly certain woods that contain toxic oils might be mentioned but I think they must get burned off and not be a significant factor once it's ash.
Ahhhh, but all that goes to the LordOh no - they have a lot to offer - daily eggs, unlimited manure for the garden, daily entertainment. Sounds like a good job to me! I best up my game. Heading out there to prove myself to the Princesses - I definitely don't want to risk losing my job!

Have you ever put mite and lice powder in their dust bath?I've been using wood ash in their dustbath pool since 2020. Mixed with earth, and some sand, and at one time I put a little sulphur in there too. But now it is mostly earth and some wood ash. Probably 5-1 ratio. They love it. It's quite dusty though, I've dampened it down some at times. My main concern is the dust in their lungs. Don't know about that, they are seeking out the dust and dirt elsewhere too, in the open greenhouse frame under the lilac bush for instance.
It's not aesyReally, MJ? How do you manage not to have tons of typos like I do?![]()
You know what they say in management/business....'S&*# rolls down hill." Bummer being at the bottom of the 'hill'...or at least lower than the one who just got pecked...Several times I've seen Peanut, while foraging, give Hazel a light peck when she's persistently too close and in her face. Hazel turns away and immediately goes after whoever is closest with a fierce peck. They're just minding their own business but here she comes. She'll walk several steps over just to do it. Once when they were foraging more closely I saw Peanut peck Hazel, Hazel peck Butters, and Butters peck Popcorn. Chicken dominoes, aka the pecking order. Fascinating.
They told me I did a good job this afternoon. So I think I am secure in my position for now.Ahhhh, but all that goes to the Lordof the manor
, not the servant
- except for maybe the entertainment
(unless, of course, they decide to keep you on...then those positions are, of course, combined) So. I suspect they won't have any serious
applicants from BeakBook
