I am glad that you are having a great summer 😊.
We get these periods of extremely cold temperatures every winter which is why I can't presently let my summer broody hens hatch eggs. I have to be very careful about my space in the coop since I know there will be times when the hens will be cooped up.
Oh I see! It makes matters much more complicated.

Maine coon?
Yup.

Ok.., prepare yourself for the dorkiness. Here is Buttercup’s song (I need to learn the rest of the tune and write some lyrics for her).

And here is Sunshine with her head in my pocket and then one of her songs.
I tell my mum to sing to them when she does chores for me 😄

Her reply is not for polite company 😆

I sing to my gang all the time, I find they enjoy it and follow me around, same with the horses, seems music tames the savage beast 💖

Same. It’s beautiful here today, but the darn hawk scared the girls back in. I licked them in the run and came inside fir a late breakfast, but I’ll let them back out in a little bit. Here they are a few hours ago when I first let them out.
I just love the conversations you and Bridge have. 🥰

I am very sorry the hawk is terrorizing your hens too.

You sing beautifully. I guessed at Buttercup's song beforehand and was right. They are just darling. Thanks for having the courage to share.

Close to 0F, -17C this morning. Tremendous wind yesterday, and very calm today. After the pop door opened I went out there and upped the heating pad in the coop to medium. Finally the sun rose enough over the hill to hit the run.

This afternoon Hazel began a bath, sounding little boks while she beaked around in it and made a hole; Peanut ran right over to her and got in, standing and digging next to her, finally getting down too. Hazel then started making loud, deep, running bok purrs with every breath. I took this and the next pic from the door, not wanting to disturb them.

Peanut's head is getting new feathers I believe. She has had whitish, almost bald-looking patches, above her comb and especially her cheeks, but they are tiny pins I think (hope). The rest of her is feathering out pretty quickly but she's not full-feathered yet and she can't fluff much. Her comb is pretty pale, Hazel has the most pink of them all and is not very pink.
