Hi, folks. Well, it has been decided. We are going with two of those Producers Pride XL coop/run combos and adding onto the run with premade panels of the same material from Home Depot. DH says the coops are well made, and he will add plywood under the roofing material over the coops. I made it very clear the run MUST NOT be under 200 square feet, preferably larger. It’s going to be OK. DH will also pay DD to help build, so everybody wins! ❤️
Great news. Good luck! Have you solved the people-housing too?

Take two...
Flexi: why on earth did mother call you princess, you look more like Wirzel Gummidge to me. Princess: Why thanks Aunt Sally I'm really complimented

Oh, yes. I’ve moved three loads of boxes to the new place. We’ll be paying $900 more per month for a slightly smaller space, but it’s only 2.5 miles away, and they will allow the dog and chickens. 🥰 It really was a great find! We’ll miss the big flat yard, but after we’ve been settled in for a bit and the girls understand it’s their new home, I will take them on some adventures.

Yes the brooder has a cover. Until last night when I would refill the feeder and water or clean it I would leave the cover off if I walked away. Well last night one of the orps attempted the first jail break. She flew up and perched on the edge of the brooder and was waiting on me when I came back with clean water. No more leaving the cover off if I'm not right there anymore.
They grow up so very fast.

I figure with little Ezzie I will have a idea of what she will end up looking like around 5ish months old when she is done with one of the last of her juvenile molts. I would not mind if she ended up looking like her momma, but some of the other variations of partridge silkies are very pretty. To be honest, as long as she is healthy and is in fact a girl I would not complain if she ended up pink. I also think I will have to go with a few juvenile molts on the "Grannies" before I get a idea of what they really are as well. Now that they and the Nellies are 2 weeks old today I am starting to scrutinize combs, so far so good.
I am so rooting for you to wind up with nothing but ladies this time. :D
