Also, there is always room for black chickens so let’s call it my first black chicken!

My head is spinning.Blue laced Red Wyandottes are an exception to that. Storm's bio roo is one of those: more accurately, he's a splash laced, but because of the way the BLRW breed out (see earlier re: blue, black, splash) is still called BLRW. Her bio hen is an olive egger (aka bitsa bred for olive colored eggs). The olive egger is barred (looks kinda like a zoot suit: black with white pinstripes). All the babies hatch out like sex-link: cockerels have headspot marking will be barred. Pullets have no spot. All are blue. Her brother is Red White And Blue. Blue barred with Red barred hackles and saddle feathers. Storm's crest tells us that her bio hen's parents are a Crested Legbar (like the Roadeunners) and a Cuckoo Marans (the barring and the dark overlay on blue eggs to get olive). Crossing Blue with anything except Blue, Black, Splash can get some color bleeding through. When and how is beyond my current understanding.
Noted! Need to clarify @bgmathteach's guess and see if any others have any ideas.I'm going to go with Jersey Giant then.
Kinda depends on the bird. I say bird because the giants I had all had fluctuating amounts of black on their legs/feet. My RIR had ORANGE legs. Twirp has willow green, but as a tiny chick was difficult to tell what color they were. The green darkened/spread as She grew. Cheetah, Blanche, and PITA all have blue legs. It was another new color for me, but none of those 3 were very cooperative with handling....EVER. The reason the black is so challenging is skin color is yellow vs white all over with black feathers and shanks. Even side by side, it's hard to tell.I am so glad you said that! I read your post about the bottom of the feet and I head off to examine feet and am sitting there scratching my head!
I do think they are cool looking feet though. Do chicks keep the same feet coloring when they are grown up, or can it change like feather color?
Only reason I know is I looked it up specifically re: Storm and Maurice (the brother) to figure out where her crest came from (and his size). He's bigger than his father, while only about 5-6 weeks older than Storm. She hatched late July, and he hatched early June. I'm guessing that the wyandotte curves mixed with the Marans height to make a rooster pushing Brahma/Cochin/Giant proportions. My head is spinning.
did they come from the farm near your house?Yes it is!
I have felt for some time that 4 Princesses in the Palace is just not enough - they sort of rattle around in there.
I have been ridiculously anxious about it all - but so far so good.
A shot of Mary because the occasion seems to call for it
I'm glad you have decided to introduce some new friends. I agree, four is too few.Yes it is!

yes, guess is for the black. Need to do some research on the Blue before guessing. Chipmunk is the most common chick color. Speckled Sussex, Welsummer, Partridge (fill in any breed with partridge color), brown leghorn, silver Phoenix, silver Dorking, Twirp (whiting True Blue, but they come in as manycolors as Easter eggers), any breed with no carbon copy color standard (EE, Swedish flower hens, ect). I can say none are feather footed which eliminates Sultans, French Marans (of any color), Brahmas, Cochins, Faveroles, Silkies, and a couple of others. I can also say none are crested (unless small crest) so no Polish, Houdans, crevocoeur, etc. Also no 5 toes, so no Dorkings, etc.Noted! Need to clarify @bgmathteach's guess and see if any others have any ideas.
Did you have any guesses for the blue one? I assume your guess is the black one.
And I will post the brown chipmunk when they wake up in the morning (by which time I imagine they will be HUGE!).
