It rains very little where I live and then, when it does rain, the water runs almost immediately through the soil to the water table. The hens never get a chance to stand in puddles.
Lucky you! It's a swamp here in the spring.... I am flat so it doesn't run off, but it is sandy here so once it dries up it good.

Digging post holes is easy, so putting in my new run should be easy!

That's good news. I am on heavy clay so everything is a pain and turns to slippery mud very easily. Fortunately the Chicken Palace is on a slope so it actually does OK.

Fyi I love your coop / run it looks lovely can you post more pics so I can get some ideas for mine?
I collected all the ideas on this thread, you can take your pick from them! The final list is towards the end of the thread.

It's still a work in progress, but you can get a good view of the run here.

But RC, you sprang those new chicks on us so fast, we couldn’t persuade you otherwise. (Not that we would) :hugs
I know. I was nervous it wouldn't work out. I still am honestly! You guys all tried to persuade me to get more a year ago and I resisted - so really I was just slow to be convinced!

I would prefer a little more rain and less heat in summer, but moving is not an option right now so I don't complain (much) about the weather.

Digging is super easy in sand. It should be easy work.
