As promised, new Twig pictures and videos. Twig and George are 10 days old. I also like the name Satin Silkie better then silkie mix so that is what I'm going to call Twig.

He is 11. He had an awful start in life I had too bottle feed him, next he lived with people who as much as they loved him couldn't keep him, so at 3 he landed up with me.
Then there was an incident in my life when he was five and we were parted for well over a month which almost broke us both. I think he had a stroke because his mouth was drooping. Luckily I was taught a few tricks and he got back too his whacky wonderful self

Within 4 months of us getting reunited three dog's almost tore him apart. It's been a genuine battle at times, he wouldn't ever settle with anyone but me from the start. So I'm guessing he looks much older than he really is.
Wow 11 that's a good age - you must be something right to get him to that good age! My retriever was 13 when he died, which is a huge feat for a large dog. Large breeds usually don't go more than 9 or 10 years I am told.

Hello everyone. This has been a busy and stressful week and I am over 100 pages behind. I marked where I left off and will go back and catch up but I wanted to share 2 things with you.

First off, she did it, my baby girl is now in high school. I did not think we would survive as she came down with a ear infection and sinus infection Sunday with so many pre grad activities left. Thankfully we pulled through and she is on the mend. Nerves was also getting to her as she and 3 of her classmates had to do the pledge during the ceremony. There were 63 students in her graduating class and she was 1 of 8 with a 4.0. I've told her besides taking care of her horse, she has the whole summer to relax and enjoy herself, she's earned it.

Next, Bunny is a momma again. 2 of her 3 eggs hatched yesterday afternoon. I also got a shock when I was checking the chicks. I would have swore to you all that Branch was not able to breed the big girls. He tries but always falls off unsuccessfully or they girls shake him off and chase him. Well, I was wrong, and to Rosie's delight he got lucky once and we have a "Twig". No mistaken it is a Branch baby as it has the 5 silkie toes. The other chick is a full Marans and a Holly baby. Due to her history, and what I'm seeing, I'm taking a chance and calling it a boy.

Twig is in front and a very suspicious boy looking Maran in the back.

Congratulations! I am also over 100 pages behind (yet again!) but I’m glad I saw this post. ❤️

The bunnies come out at 4pm it seems. Maybe they know the fox family are asleep digesting squirrels.

Minnie had a lovely day out. I am glad I released her - she made lots of happy chicken noises and scratched around in the dirt. But of course now her crop is full of impossible stuff to break down. I have her back in the hospital ward so I can administer her miconazole a little later and squeeze in some more coconut oil and massage sessions before bed.

Abdomen not bloated and vet examined her about a week ago because of diarrhea and lethargy and felt nothing abnormal. Her crop was working fine at that point.
Fecal sample showed roundworms and coccidia so I have been treating both and then suddenly her crop balloons and won’t empty.
Well, shoot. I would let the vet know what’s going on. I believe when they’re wormed, if they have a high load and are treated, all the worms dying all at once can cause a blockage. I forget where I learned that, so I’m not 100% sure if it’s accurate.

Also, sorry I did not realize her crop is ballooning. The stuff I was suggesting earlier is more for an impaction than a sour crop. I’d be reluctant to give her any more meds right now while she still being treated for something else.

How does she seem to be feeling now?

She is not too bad. Not quite herself but I have seen her worse.
She enjoyed her chickeny day of freedom today and is now doing her crop clearing dance with no more luck than I have when I massage it!

I just realized you were treating for sour crop. I hope the poor girl continues to improve. I find it super stressful when one of my feathered friends isn’t feeling well and I’m trying desperately to help. I hope you’re doing OK.

You are so kind. I am stressing about her but I am hanging in there.
The counterbalancing good news is that Bernadette’s walking continues to improve. For hours on end she walks normally. Then she tired and it gets a bit wonky again. But even wonky it is so much better than it was!
