Dip net… the ultimate chicken catching device.
I really do need one - mine are really only friendly on their own terms!
I also need a tennis racket/racquet for herding them away from me so I don't trip over one of them (or tread on their toes as I did with Maggie yesterday).

You may be right. She was certainly having a very animated conversation with someone and all my lot were sensibly in the shade under the bushes or in the Chicken Palace.
The good thing about Lulu is she never stays in one place very long so soon she was running around in the shade with the others.
I have locked them in for the night and as soon as it is below 90 degrees outside I will set up a fan outside to blow cooler air in through the Chicken Palace (I think I have the same fan as @BY Bob and @micstrachan have). I haven't tried this before but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
It’s still hot here and the hen house is very hot and stuffy. It’s 85F in there so I have the box fan blasting away To move air around

Dorothy is deciding that she is going to join the broody bunch So I dragged her out a couple times today. Just now caught her back in her favourite nest box again - dragged her off the nest box and put her on the roost.

Oh boy these gals are gonna drive me mad!!!

Happy Saturday everyone. I'm trying to play catch up as there has been a lot I have missed this past week. Royal Chick I hope the lovely Bella is showing some improvement for you. It is not fair that you finally get your black chicken and then tragedy strike with her. I also hope BY BOBs polish chick is on the mend. What is it this year with leg issues and vitamin issues?

I have to get outside and take some new pictures of the flock, especially Twiggy. I really hope Twig is a pullet as she is so cute. Mom pointed out to me yesterday that she has a mohawk. She actually has a crest coming in although no sign yet of the beard that when she hatched she showed signs of. Chiquita is about ready to hit the home stretch soon. Monday will make 2 weeks in and while I have not yet had time to candle her eggs she is a pro. I do not have to force this girl off her eggs to eat and drink she does it on her own like clockwork. She is off daily for about 30 minutes between noon and 1pm. Mom suspects nothing, or if she does she has not said anything at all. Attitude wise Rosie is back to herself after I cut her back to strictly Tylenol. She is a little sore with only that but she is more aware of her surroundings and is not in danger of bumping her shoulder into things which she was doing. She also is getting more range of motion back with her arm, but, I'm not encouraging it as she was told to keep it still until her return doctor visit. She was thrilled yesterday though as for the first time since the accident she was able to put on and wear a bra all day. She finally felt human for the first time in a week as she put it.
Oh more babies 😊😊😊😊 can’t wait!!

I am glad Rosie is better and yep if she can manage without stronger pain meds that’s great! And it will make her less likely to overdo it with her shoulder, the plate will need to remain stable, once the bone knits a callus th plate will be cemented in better so best not to do anything to put strain on it.

But there is no reason she can’t type on a computer etc…. Which I am sure she is texting hahaha!

(not sure if a bra would make me feel more human tho hahahaha 🤭)

Jaffar is very relaxed, here laying on my chest.
