I’m sad to say this, but I’m headed home. All James wanted from me was a $ loan and his wife came on to me . I’m trying to keep this post G rated. I’m so disappointed with James. I did leave a check for 500$ in the mail box. I won’t be back here again! :(
How disappointing 😟 sorry to hear this, but you had a nice flight hopefully ❤️

Let's just say my dad could be a enabler and he does not even realize it. He got to talking about quail. Why when I loved my chickens so much was I not up in arms over building a enclosure and having a few quails. He has no clue what he has started. Quail have been on my mind for a good year now. I have just not pushed the issue that I need them. I think he want's quail and has put the idea in my head as he tried a few quail eggs a few weeks back at his brothers and loved them. I now have a new project for when I'm recouping from surgery next month. I shall pass my time researching everything I need to know about quail. I also already have the materials needed and the spot available for a small enclosure to house about 5 or 6.
I remember quail having a much lower survival rate than chickens. My dad and I raised them primarily for Ky department of fish and game. We released them in Pike and surrounding counties.

Awwww! Can’t wait to see baby quail 🥰

This morning was about 33 F and yes, I did have Grandma go inside again. This time, if I walked away, she would start crying even though there was someone in the kitchen there with them. I had to keep telling Grandma, "Stop crying". She did this twice and eventually stopped. Right now is a mere 45 F and cloudy, but it's not snowy and it's not that rainy but there a few light drops, but I'm not outside right now. Also, should I stop making these weather posts? I don't want to be an obnoxion to certain people. I don't want people to say "No one cares about the weather in PA" and I really don't want that to happen so this is just an honest opinion to all of you.
Just do what I do! I whine about the winter cold snowy weather all the time!!

And I have to pay a Weather Whining Tax 😊 take today for instance, it’s a winter wonderland here. And cold and damp and dreary… even my chickens wouldn’t go outside. And the horses were all grumpy, my feet got wet because I didn’t wear boots, my runners got soaked - I hate wet feet 🤨

And so it will go with me hahahaha

Weather Whining Tax
Marty thought about going outside, and then looked at me and asked me ‘are you mad human?’

Finally got some fresh bird pics. Y'all are getting them all together.View attachment 3324642It appears that at least a few are venturing forth...as long as footings are mostly cleared...View attachment 3324641View attachment 3324644View attachment 3324646They're making inroads on the sunflowers, and the active ones are mostly those not moulting.View attachment 3324652Thing has perked up a bit. Feathers are growing in rather than making moving miserable. View attachment 3324654And long-necked curiosity is not enough to venture forth.View attachment 3324657Silver is still avoiding most, but her feathers are finally coming through in numbers. The little girls are looking fantastic, too.View attachment 3324658PITA has feathers growing like crazy (and has tamed down quite a bit: Blanche hasn't though). Cheetah has a ways to go filling in the patches (and has hung on to 1 tatty flag, seen in pic with Silver).View attachment 3324659Jessica is likely going to be one of the first to venture out into the snow. She was checking it out most thoroughly. (And her feathers look to be most of the way done).View attachment 3324660Pear had lost her tail feathers, so I'm delighted to see the new ones coming in nicely. She was also braving the breakfast scrum this morning, so is definitely past the initial "I can't move; my feathers hurt" stage.
Beautiful - and I love the feathered legs 😊
