Now that I am recovered from the show that lasted until 4 am I can give the back story behind this picture. Dad has had Dirt down at every show getting him used to the crowds and other horses. He does very well. What Dirt does not like is the ring. He showed him twice last year and he acted up in the ring. He spent a good part of this winter and spring riding him in the ring much to Dirt's dismay. The ring is boring, he would much rather be on the road or hills behind the house for hours at a time. Rosie and Mallory had already shown in Juvenile Pleasure and were waiting for their next class, the go as you please 13 and over. Dad asked to see the show bill, wanted to put dirt in a class where speed was not required to get him used to riding in the ring with strange horses. I suggested the go as you please class within ear shot of the girls. They both responded with a "Don't you dare enter with us." That was "Their" class. Between the 2 in the other shows they had each won it with the other placing 2nd one night and third the other. Me and dad talked, if he entered that would make 8 horses, the girls were protesting so for fun he had me enter him and Dirt. He assured the girls they would do nothing, Dirt would probably loose his mind. Dirt did amazing, all the hard work had paid off. I have a video I will try to get uploaded later. It is dark, and the girls made it difficult. Trying to focus on 3 horses, they treated Dirt like he had the plague and came in the ring after Dirt was already in it so they were not close to him. When they announced dad's number as the winner, he had no idea. I had to buy a number for him as he never shows. He asked the judge was that his number they called and the judge laughed and said yup. Rosie finally started speaking to us both again a hour later, when it was time to enter her and Mallory into another class. Yesterday she finally thought it through. Her papaw is allowed now to keep showing Dirt, get him used to the ring. In 3 years she will be 18 and be allowed to show a stallion. Her papaw has 3 years to get him ready for "Open Racking".

Absolutely AWESOME! that is great :) He is such a pretty boy - your Dad must be thrilled - tell him GOOD JOB - The best classes are those you just enter for fun, and end up getting a ribbon in!

Why doesn't he geld him if he isn't going to breed him? rather cruel to keep a stud horse that can't be turn out with the herd (I know I had a few in my day).

I am so glad Martina is not on the lookout for a new name. I saw the mugshot of her and first thing that popped into my head is that she is sporting a Marge Simpson hairdo.
hahahaha ya! Right?!

So you still think Pullet? I am just not saying anything until she lays an egg :)

What a wonderful story. And I am delighted Dirt got his ribbon
But why does it all have to happen in the middle of the night?!
