I want to lose about 30 pounds (will need to adjust Marie’s trim, to accommodate the weight loss) :D
And I feel better when I’m busy burning calories!
One of our neighbors had a heart attack in early December. She's doing... ok... ish. If I can say a "good" thing came from this, it would be that hubby and I have gotten back into working out on the elliptical that has gathered dust in basement for most of a decade. It was a wake up call for us.

We thought walking 3-4 miles a day with Freya (our dog) was enough. We were both surprised at how out of shape we really are. 15-20 minutes on the elliptical proved that!

At my most recent physical (last July), my cholesterol numbers really shocked me. My neighbor's heart attack made me resolve to eat better to try to lower it.

Investments in health pay many dividends: It's so much cheaper to be healthy, and life is more enjoyable.
The last few years I have been working on myself.
I stopped smoking cigarettes! :D
I walk around the neighborhood every other day. ( until I feel like someone’s targeting me)
Many years ago I stopped drinking alcohol 🍷🥃🍺🍾
And I recently stopped eating donuts 🍩 ( that was hard to do!!) because there’s always fresh coffee and donuts at the airport cafe.
In my older age, I try to be less judgmental and more focused on caring, and loving people as well.
:bow:bow on the quitting booze and cigarettes!
Looking through these older posts:
Sally, it would be an honor to have you to dinner with me and my chook family.
Well thank you!

Oh, I’ve not been on here for a few days because I’m grounded. I have my phone for a few hours because my mom and dad are at work, but I won’t have it until I get my grades up. I’m trying though!

Crystal laid her first egg yesterday. Also, she’s been eating the other hens’ eggs. Her egg was so tiny and cute though.

@BY Bob brought us some big news from FBA.

Also Phyllis is turning grey

In other hatchday celebrations, @fuentemoon celebrated two beauties who turned 6. My goodness what gorgeous girls!

For those of us, like me, with a weakness for black chickens @BY Bob provided a helpful summary

STRIPES were the big theme of the week. Even though I don't want any more chickens right now, these gorgeous stripes had me flipping through hatchery websites daydreaming!
Lovely stripes provided by @BY Bob, @Ponypoor, @Desertvalleychickens, @Grandma The Chicken, and @featherhead007.

@BY Bob was particularly excited about the stripes this week:

And reminded us about Ned

Although that was the last picture we have of Ned with BY Bob, we did get an update from him once he was with @CrazyChookChookLady

Here are the rest of the stripes, including, of course, Sydney

Spots also made an appearance from @Ponypoor and @BY Bob, and also set me off daydreaming!

@LhickenChicken stopped by for a visit and gave us an update on her flock that included sad news about Ginger
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27475034

In more sad news, @Pastel The Rooster has to remove Gumbo from the flock one way or another. He seems like a wonderful rooster and several of us are saddened to think he will end up as dinner
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27469609
At the time of going to press his fate is unknown and Pastel is grounded to focus on her grades.

In happier news, @Ponypoor has chick fever (isn't it always the case?!).
She has a plan to enable herself to get more chicks.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27472766
Remember, you can ignore the impressive numbers because all of her current flock have names, so according to the rules of Chicken Math, she doesn't actually have any chickens at all!
Pony is being discerning and only wants one kind of chick. Or maybe two types. Or make that four. Maybe more?
She seems to want a lot of different chickens. I can't keep up!

@RebeccaBoyd gave several updates from her lovely flock
Owly (who I think is a stunningly beautiful chicken) may be laying pink eggs

Poppet is a challenge to photograph

Several of us were weather challenged this week and in the case of @rural mouse, that came with some cute chicken pictures/video.

Her chickens got bored all cooped up against the snow so one of them tried writing in cursive
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27477422

And although it wasn't this week, I just love this picture of chicken footprints from @Ponypoor

@RoyalChick (oh, that would be me!)
Finally managed to implement her idea for hawk deterrent netting over a couple of places next to the Chicken Palace, but then got a bit distressed at how hard it is to outwit the hawks
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27479814

As well as hawks, there has been a crime spree at the Chicken Palace
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27482357

Fortunately the time I have spent watching Police shows was not entirely wasted
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27482654

Apologies to anyone whose news I missed.
