I have let Tassels out on a trial release. So far so good. But she is still making broody noises and flaring up.
But she hasn’t gone back to the nest for several hours and she is running around in the Goldenrod and Artemesia forests.
I had forgotten that she is quite bold towards me. She jumped up on my knee to demand treats.
Her comb is very pale - I assume that happens with broodies, and isn’t something I should worry about?
I guess roosting time will be the time I can tell if she has really given up.

A pale shriveled up comb and wattles is completely normal for a hen that is broody. It will redden back up again right before she gets ready to lay again.

Thanks. I figured that was probably the case but you know I do worry!
Otherwise she seems aggressively healthy. Her feathers are shiny and she is charging around in the undergrowth catching bugs. She is so far in I can’t see her even though I am sitting in the chicken yard - but I can hear contended sounding grunts.
She lost about 14% of her body weight while she was broody so I am glad she is getting some good insect protein (as well as the scrambled egg she got in jail).

So i am now officially a killer of things that fly

I’m thinking about getting another six chicks. 12 I have is fine, but six more would be better. I have room for 100 anyways

If she doesn't stop with the broody threaten her with having to spend the night in the human house. Works best on birds that prefer not to have human company.
