You should not have to take responsibility for others irresponsibility. You need to manage your chickens to your plans. Hopefully for their sake you can help them out. But if you can't that's a hard fact of life.
You are right I should not. If I do not try to help them I feel guilty which I should also not have to feel. These boys are also a liability to myself and my flock. With them being turned loose and not able to catch them all I can do is pray they are healthy and do not bring a disease into my own flock. Also I am the only person in my subdivision who has chickens and roosters. Both are allowed. I have kept a strict policy of no ill behaved boys, kept the number of boys down so no constant crowing. Well, now there are 2 boys who I have no back story on. I have no clue if they have ever shown human aggression in the past. If they do go after someone guess who the angry neighbor will come after? You guessed it, me. The neighbors are aware that they are cast offs, not boys I bought. They take up permanent residence in my yard with my flock though well, they do something stupid the consequences fall on me. I will try to help them as long as I can. They put my flock in danger or anger the neighbors my hands will be tied.

My story is somewhat different. I had my six hens and my infamous rooster, but along came six more, literally dropped off into my arms.
Sir Jaffar’s passing was terrible, timing was poor, but now I have two roosters. (And a whole bunch of girls that think they are roosters)!
I’m still very much concerned with all the heat happening, that I could lose a bird or more. :idunno

Do you have an area to set up a secure fan or box fan that won't tip over and set it up outside using an outdoor electric cord extension? Chickens love the fans in heatwaves. My DH brought a fast-panting Silkie inside to cool off in front of a fan. She was trying to lay an egg in the coop nest so he quickly brought her in front of the fan. He put her back in the coop and as soon as she dropped that egg she made a beeline to the ice cold nipple waterer!

We lost a Dominique pullet in 2018 while she was laying an egg during our summer heatwave. The following year 2019 we lost our 2nd Dom in a 115 degree heatwave while she was laying too. So we are ultra-sensitive about any hens laying in a heatwave!

These silly little turnips are just so darn loveable

Look up how to make a swamp cooler. It really is worth it especially if it's not really too humid.

Yes for humidity levels under 50% it will make a difference.

My humidity is 75% at the moment, it’s only 22C (72F) but with the humidity not feels much warmer it feels like 28C (82F).
