We don't have Jays around here but I understand they are rather aggressive. Our House Sparrows are bad enough here!

Some small House Finches that managed to get some seed but we never see Finches anymore since Sparrows invaded!

When we fed the birds it was the Mourning Doves that cause all the drama - they look so sweet and gentle, and their soft coo-ing so lovely.

But whoa Nelly they were mean and aggressive!

It has been my observation with horses also. Truly’s sister was a lovely girl, very quiet easy going, never gave me a moments trouble.

Truly though, she is temperamental, always fighting me, not trusting at all.

And of course same with people.

I had only been riding her a month and decided ‘hey let’s do a beginners Dressage class’ got a 4th out of 10 horses in this class, and a 5th in the second - pretty good for a fully who had barely been ridden and in a strange place far from home!

Amazing... those slender equine legs carrying their huge body plus a rider too! I always marvel at their slim legs!

The House Sparrows have managed to chase off even the Doves! Black Phoebes & occasionally a Mocking bird comes around but the Sparrows are like cockroaches... they're nasty!

Once they feather out, hard to tell with them, here I can only tell by behaviour, the youngsters continually call for the adults to feed them. Sometimes they get lucky and the parents give them some food.
This one was not calling to anyone.

🐔FBA chicken's synopsis
07 -15 June 2025

Link to last week's synopsis, by Ponypoor.

@BY Bob

Now here is a mug that screams Monday ! And Nimue and Niamh have quite a striking resemblance to the very much missed forever party girl, Phyllis.

Bob received a stunning anonymous gift, also deeply emotional. I must say it is no surprise to me that he has such wonderful friends- kindness brings kindness.

The cutest little helper refreshed the Hut's painting. She seemed very focused!

Frisky Niamh ! So young and already dreaming of power 👑!

@featherhead007

We are all keeping Alex and his family in our heart, as his young nephew passed this week from cancer.

Ever heard of biting chickens ? And how about buried chickens ?

Sharing a corn ear with aero is good for the soul and so is cuddling with a little angel.

Mr Wyandottey has now taken a special place in Alex's heart. And it is not being unfair to the very missed Sir Jaffar to be happy about it, as @TX Chick Noob wrote beautifully.

Blondie is not doing too well, and wasn't better on monday, but Grandma gave us a reassuring update on Thursday.

--------------------------------------------------

@knoturavggrl

Butts and a very rare picture - the whole flock ! But guess what ...more Silkie chicks are coming next week !

--------------------------------------------------

@Marie2020

Marie shared some fond memories and pictures : enjoying Pink Floyd, and going for the corn. And check that thirsty Princess !

---------------------------------------------------

@Ponypoor

Congratulations Holly for your first egg !

Jolly / Elvis has a new suit !

Kelly may be smart, but chickens are sooo clever ...

Laverne is a bad girl - a new video clip from Kelly's gang.
The gang is so handy with tools that they could set up a business !

---------------------------------------------------

@RebeccaBoyd

Welcome to fatherhood, George, but Gryffin and Goose sure had a complicated hatch !
And some more news.

----------------------------------------------------

@RoyalChick

The most hilarious (and not politically correct) Friday fluffy butt 😂 !

--------------------------------------------------

@rural mouse

Beautiful landscape and a picture of thing 2's daughter, at FIL. Also lots of beautiful roosters in his flock !

Gorgeous two-fers, with a wild life twist.

---------------------------------------------------

@Sally PB

A thoughtful post and a chicken joke.

---------------------------------------------------

@SimpleJenn

Nosy Posy, oh no 😂!

How chicks and chickens go to bed is a story in itself.

Breezy on video : he is such a good cockerel... when he is hanging out with real hens rather than "bucketina" !

Hard to believe those cute tiny fluffy butts bit the dog !

--------------------------------------------------

@Sylvester017

At @SimpleJenn's request, a serie of "stripey chickens" : look at those dominiques, from chicks to gorgeous adults.

All about eating corn, and a sweet memory.

Another memory of a buff leghorn in their flock.

Thank you! 😊

Here Lilly used to attack doves and chase them out of the yard. They must still remember that as they hardly come around our yard.

Birds as a whole are aggressive. We got the short stick with THREE male doves and all of them are insanely stupid when spring rolls around. One of them gets along with the other two but it's crazy. Doves aren't as pure and innocent as people portray them as.

Sparrows nearly wiped out the eastern blue birds. They will kill blue birds in their nesting boxes and then build their nest on top of them. Blue birds have soft breaks and cannot fight Sparrows effectively with them.

As someone who has blue bird boxes and has watched some 85 baby bluebird hatch and be raised in my yard, I have a real distaste for sparrows.
