I want to know what this electric baby nail file is!

This is similar to the one I have, mine came in a kit. The circled file is the one I used. I have small dog nail clippers that I used to trim the beak back, and this to shape it. Mine has 2 speeds clockwise, 2 speeds anticlockwise. It isn't very powerful but it is gentle.

Morning Yogurt

Niamh ended her 7 day course of antibiotics yesterday and ate yogurt for the first time this morning!

She is great. If I put it in front of her, she will at least taste it. She ate all of the yogurt this daintily.

Very ladylike.
It is interesting - she approaches it as part way food and part way drink.

Weekly synopsis for week of 29 Nov to 06 Dec 2025

Previous week’s synopsis by ManueB

BY Bob

Niamh was not feeling very well this past while, and Tilly really was missing her.

First snow has arrived at Fluffy Butt Acres, how will the newest chooks react? 🤷‍♂️

Yep that is how I would react also! Nope no nada never

Well except for the youngsters! Oh to be young and not worry about the snow…

…then more snow! And where are the newest gals? Hanging with Mrs BY Bob!

By midweek Niamh was feeling much better and even the snow didn’t stop her.

… and it was back to old habits, and stressing her poor Hooman.

rural mouse

It’s not every day that you get a Pony Sunday and Caturday on a Sunday!

And then some gorgeous Monday Mugs.

Some questions regarding Rooster/Cockerel behaviour were answered.

RoyalChick

For Mugs Monday Mr Chips is being showcased, he has been trying to woo poor Ms Piglet who doesn’t want anything to do with him.

A table for her to escape up onto is just what is needed!

And the question to Rural Mouse’s answer.

SimpleJenn

Snow doesn’t stop these beauties!

Oooooo and more lovelies! Very pretty chooks.

That’s way too much of the evil white stuff, I bet those chooks are thinking!

Time for a spa treatment! Beak trimming 101.

featherhead007

Is this a heads or tails photo – it made me laugh at any rate, great photo!

And check out the legs on this lovely chook – Mr Featherhead has a lovely flock.

Kattabelly

More wee chickies! I know where to get my baby chickie fix these days!

Mama is a good mama with those wee chickies, nice to see them out and about.

notabitail

I had high hopes notabitail would get the days correct – but we still love seeing his flock.

And we have a winner! It is a Fluffy Butt Friday day!

bgmathteach

The discussion regarding stress causing an illness is one that has been shown to be true.

Labsandchickens8

We were all introduced to Bossy Bresse – what a lovely hen.

Seems some of the others where pecking her Bossy Behind – no pick spray is pink.

Sylvester017

Perspective is everything – in the grand scheme of things....

It’s a lovely sight seeing one’s hens happily pecking around in the dirt, so peaceful.

And watching them in a dust bath is also very relaxing to watch.

TOMTE

Cozy Chickens has a new model of radiant heater, TOMTE hopefully will let us all know how it performs.

It’s hard missing a beloved pets… ❤️

Lovely Aliss.

ChicoryBlue

There is something really nice about a lovely Rooster tail, even when sleeping. 🐓

It’s a learning curve for everyone it seems, even a young Rooster.

Shehnai is growing to be a good boy I feel, he makes sure everyone is accounted for at night.

Yes I agree he is a very good boy! Everyone is learning as they go.

Pastel the Rooster

Suggestions regarding new housing for the school chicks were tossed around. 🏰

The school chicks seems to be having a run of coccidiosis, a discussion on medication was held. Hopefully they get better fast.

Grandma The Chicken

Seems GtC has a musical group on her hands! 🎶

Hello Mozzarella, such a pretty hen. 💘

Ponypoor

Snow has been the theme for many here on FBA, my lot are wimps and don’t like the snow.

There was some humour on the part of poor Laverne and her chicken legs J

Some two fors from earlier in the week. Petra is growing up.

Trying out some ideas to keep the chooks warm this winter, this seems to help.

So far, so good! The unit itself gets nice and hot (but not burning to the touch), and when I close the pop door at night you can definitely tell the difference between the outside air and the air in the coop within a few minutes. It isn't warm in there, but for sure warmer than outside, and they haven't felt the need to cuddle up right against it (that I've observed) so I think it puts out a good amount of radiant heat!

I can feel the heat from the panel I have in the Hen House when I am cleaning the roosting ledges. Makes it nice for the chooks at night. Esp the older ones.
