I'm late to the game but I just set 22 eggs today which are hopefully future Olive Eggers or at least green egg layers. I have a F1 Olive Egger blue rooster in with my laying flock so it's really just a mash of mixed breeds to be adding to the layer flock. Fingers crossed for healthy hatchlings and lots of colorful laying pullets!

My Rooster is a ameracauna lavender in color from a good breeder of them he is getting prettier by the day My girls many are green egg layers hiding as EE it is my largest green that are with my girls in silky land wonderful very serious broody

I found the cracked egg AND it’s alive.

Edited to add that’s not a pip. It’s was also chipped when shipped. The membrane was not damaged

Yes due to hatch on the 25th. The crack went top to bottom pretty much.

day 3....finally got incubator locked in at 99.5/32% humidity! wondering if I should candle or be patient and wait until day 7. read a blog attached to previous byc thread that finally gave me a better understanding of humidity!!

I tried candling a couple cream Legbar eggs under my broody tonight, but those shells are going to require a little more development to be sure of growth.

@Farmer Connie I really wanted to hatch some Call duck eggs for this HAL, but decided against it. Well it appears that my eldest duck hen may do it for me. So far she has 7 eggs, but she isn’t sitting full time yet. She is still collecting. I hope to add those to my list soon.

For those that don’t have broody duck hens, they don’t start sitting right away like chicken hens do. They collect eggs and sit on them off and on, throughout the days, to keep them all on the same schedule. Once they commit to overnight sitting, that’s when they are serious! (*at least in my experience*)
