Not grumping about weather here, it's usually at or above freezing during the winter.

I want to live where there is less cold and snow, less humidity. Low fire, tornado, earthquake, hurricane.. doesn't get hot either
But I still can grow garlic and kale
Oh and affordable

Wth the exception of earthquake, Western WA and OR are petty good, and meet most of your requirements. We get I the low 100s about one week or so out of the summer, and it can get on the teens on occasion in the winter, but nothing like the rest of the country. And even earthquakes are few and far between. The earthquake issue comes in because we are due for "the big one." In 22+ years, we've only had 1 quake that did any real damage, and they was mainly to building facades.

Thanks Cappy and 21! I am hoping I can lure at least some of them into my coop and run (some have snuck in there before to steal food) but it isn't very big... So to get all of them I would have to catch them in several small groups. Do you think they will all spook and not come back after the first group gets trapped???
They currently sleep in a big evergreen tree about 15 feet from my coop. The shape of the tree plus it's height will make it tough for me to reach them with my hands. Would there be some sort of grabbing device I could use to extend my reach??? BTW this is their tree. It is maybe 20 feet tall? They sleep close to the trunk.

There is a special hook you can get that has kind of a funny end on it for snatching chickens by their legs , and it is a couple feet long. Idk where to get one, i would love one. Take pillow cases or laundry bags to put them in. If you keep feeding them, even if you catch some they will keep coming back. They want to be with their flock.

LOL, I've thought about doing just that many times! I just could never figure out a way to make it work with my setup. BUT my very first pet chicken was a squatch chick that got separated from his mother. He was so sweet!!! But at the time I didn't have enough hens to keep a rooster so once he grew up he went to my inlaws. He now lives a very pampered life as ruler of their flock haha

Thanks molpet! I can check if any of the local shops carry something similar. If not, I do have a really big net somewhere, maybe I will just spend tomorrow luring groups into the run and trying to net them.

I use a short handle landing net, my big net has a long handle and is too awkward in the 8' wide coop and pens i run them into.. the problem I had was they would climb up the wire and that is hard to get a net over them before they reach the top.. wings a beating

Mt ST helens and tsunami too... I watched too many PBS specials on those LOL... is there an area there that gets sunshine? maybe by Bend Oregon? I think that is pricey though... I forgot to add sunshine to my oz list LOL
